Last time I asked you replied and said a full drain and refill is a more involved job, so I thought somebody might know the procedureRead your owners manual, even tells you how to do it in there. Very straightforward. Just drain and refill, there’s no filter to change. And remember on an auto you’re only removing around 30-40% of the oil on each change as the rest is in the torque converter.
Okay thanks, that sounds like hard work. I'll do the partial change. If you really want to do a full drain then one trick is to disconnect the transcooler pipes and keep cranking the engine to expel fluid but at the same time have someone fill the gearbox so it doesn’t run dry.. when the colour coming out is as clean and red as the fluid going in then you’ve done it. I’ve done this once before and it works but it’s a messy job and you’ll need 2 people.
I wouldn't even go down the full drain route as it could upset the gearbox, had a couple of volvo geartronics in the past and it wasn't recommended to do a full replacement, plus it was much more problematic at the same time.
As F6HAD pointed out, much better for the gearbox to do a partial fluid change.
Then you drive it for a day or week so the new fluid disperses and then do the process again, and then again, at least 3 times and you've about cracked
OK thanks, that sounds like a better option. I'll get genuine Honda fluid.
