I now have my error codes.

P1237 - which on google is something to do with fuel pump - not great, but still have faith in changing that fuel filter

P1065 - something to do with power to the ecu - which I hope/presume is due to the flat battery from the knackered alternator, now changed.

P16A4 - no idea what this means.

Any idea what the last one is and have I read the others correctly?

Fault 2: p16a4 (OSR ABS/Speed Sensor faulty).

Which might be right as the VSA ABS light thing came on when it was being washed at the hand car wash and the jet wash hit the wheels

David the ABS sensor is a comen thing on the Accords to go mate. There are a few DIY'S on this to replace for new.

I guess I will order in my service kit and hope that the 120 it costs for everything is that I need for now, until I fix that annoying powersteering pump.

David Fuel Filter and/or sticking EGR valve - seen them plenty of times now.

I have ordered a socket set from Halfords. I don't think my 50 year old imperial one is up to the job.

I don't see why I can't do the filter myself, and the rest of the service. Save myself 100 quid or so.

Yes mate, it's not as hard as it looks - just need patience and some pennies for the swear jar

Have a look at the sticky in the DIY section. Matt's done a cracking write up on the fuel filter change for the pre facelift cars today.

Which dealer wanted £100 to change your fuel filter? I hope they were offering a happy ending in that price too ;)

^ It was 88 + vat for the service if I supplied everything - so effectively 100 quid.

Ah so that included the oil, air and pollen too + inspection? Not too bad in that case.

No I supplied them

It included draining, refilling oil, transmission, and pulling apart the calipers.

That was about it.

The parts were going to be another 120 on top of that,

Actually, if that's a Honda dealer - that's a damn good labour price as far as I'm concerned. It included your oil, transmission fluid, fuel filter and even cleaning the brakes up. The air and pollen they'd have done for free probably and you've got a total service in there. But still saving £100 and having the satisfaction of DIY is worth more than money.

P1237 has two meanings.

One relate to fuel the other to boost pressure.

Are they linked?

\My enthusiasm is starting to wane a bit.

I also have a hole in my cat which is going to have to be straight through piped.

Yep, EGR valve sticking would cause this.. or possibly seperate issues if one relates to the fuel filter and the other to the turbo or a vaccum leak etc. Do you notice any hesitation around 2k RPM sometimes or stuttering etc?

There is a drop in power

When I put it in third below 2000 it starts to pull, then just after 2k it has a drop in power then slowly starts to pull again.

I'm at the point now where I have to make the decision to put it back through the auction and take a hit or fix it.

However when I put it in 4th below 2000 rpm and put my foot flat to the floor, the revs slowyly climg then it goes into limp mode. Turbo doesn't feel like it's boosting at all.

Yet if I rag it hard, I still get poor low down pull, but it is generally ok once the revs rise.

Either way it's going to be money out of my pocket.

Take it to Honda for a proper diagnostics mate.

I have thought about it.

I just object to taking my car to someone who is going to tell me to replace parts rather than try and fix them.

There is a honda specialist near by as well who is meant to be ok, so will give them a shot.

Here is some definitions of the codes, that I have come across
P16A4 - ECM Internal Circuit Malfunction
Need to take into a dealer for diagnostics on the ECM and check latest software is loaded.

P1065 - Fuel Rail Pressure Lower Than Expected
Hopefully should have been solved with the replacement fuel filter, however it could also be a loose or bad connection on the fuel rail pressure sensor, you can check the connection.

P1237 - Boost Pressure Lower Than Expected
This could be caused by a number of things such as a vac leak on one of the lines, you can rule out air filter as you have replaced that. Also the Vac pump will need testing together with the turbo boost control solenoid. Also other things like a loose cover on the air intake see post # 194 on this thread

As you have done the fuel filter and air filter, probably best resetting the codes and seeing which ones come back, if any.

As Fahad has said, probably best to get it in for proper diagnostics with the HDS at a dealers or the Honda specialist you know of.

Good luck

I went out this morning to check the vacuum lines and see if there were any obvious splits - none as far as I could see.

However I am missing the big filter bit of this

Which I unplugged just to check and it made no difference.

Strange though that the filter is missing.

Will make a decision about what to do.

I doubt it will make the same as I paid for it in auction due to the whining powersteering and another pulley that has go louder, unless some silicon lube does the trick.

It is one of this things.

THe accord was on top of my list for cars to replace my golf. THe Saab I got was good, but annoyed me with whines, but at least I knew where they were from and the eventual cost of fixing them.

Grass is always greener though, isn't it.
