2.2l 2005 Accord
Hello there. Near the end of last year, I got myself a Honda Accord Tourer 2005 2.2l Diesel i-ctdi with a very noisy timing/oil chain, a clutch that gets stuck and some other minor problems. I've successfully done the timing and oil chain job and got the car on the road. Now it's time to get to the next problem which is to repair the clutch. Meanwhile, I've found out that there are some mysteries to be solved!
  • I live in Finland, from the records I've gotten I can see the car was imported from Estonia, but I could not get much info on Estonia, my guess is it was imported to there as well
  • My speedometer is in KM/H (Has text saying KM/H, also tested against the phone's GPS and it matches perfectly
  • Steering wheel on LEFT
  • My driver seat has no height adjustment, passenger seat(on right side) does have
  • Tire pressure information is on the passenger side door well (Not sure what would be normal, I ***ume driver door)
  • My Trip and Odometer seem to be in Miles!
    • I did a 61km trip (tracked with phone GPS) and my Odometer went from
    • 244 918, 33,4 on trip meter to
    • 244 956, 71,2 on trip
    • Totaling 37,8 and converting 37,8 miles-to-km results 60,83km which matches my phone's tracker.
  • When I change the temperature on LEFT, it changes it on the right and vice-versa
  • When I change the balance with the original audio unit to the Left, it goes to the Right and vice-versa
  • My left temperature knob has a Line indicating it is the master dial (I think that is what it means)
So all these are somehow reversed, my first guess was oh wires are reversed for audio, but when doing a left/right test from phone using AUX left is left, right is right. Also, the temperature being reversed is odd. (High temperature is high, low is low, but left is right and right is left).

I would love to hear from your ideas, and perhaps even solutions for fixes. I was wondering if could it have gone somehow to miles while I was working on the car for a long time without battery/with battery but a lot disconnected causing errors, doing scans, and error code resets. It is an electronic odometer after all. I went through all the history I could dig from 2011-today trying to spot signs about a changed dash or anything like that, but no luck.

It may be worthwhile paying for an HPI check unless you have the full history / receipts from the previous owner.
Does Finland have a way of checking previous MOTs ?

Can you take a picture or two of the bulkhead under the bonnet ?

Hey I checked HPI Check but seems to only work for GB plates. I have quite a full history from 2011. Missing most MOT reports, but have service repair, receipts. To my knowledge here in Fin we only can see kilometers driven at the time of MOT, and Passed/Failed status and date.
Here is link to pictures and small video under the hood/bonnet. Hopefully this is what you meant. I was unable to add photos to my post even when those were 400kb 720p..

OK, looks normal for Europe.
I would suggest the main ECU (next to the ABS brake box) might be sourced from a RHD vehicle (UK/Japan/SA), the original may have failed sometime over the car's lifetime.

What an absolute mindf*ck. Channel Hopper's explanation might well be right.

BTA can you test this: when you engage Cruise Control and increase the speed by 10 increments, does your speed go up 10Kmh or 16Kmh?

The base file used for an ECU reflash is a copy of your ECU software. Someone with tuning experience might be able to determine whether the ECU is UK or EU. You need an MPPS reader that links to a computer for this.

It might be easier to provide the part number off the side of the ECU, if somebody can tell me where in the Tourer it is I'll do same.

Allegedly a European model, 37820-RBD-E33

A UK one

37820-RBD-E94

or 37825-RBD-E91

though there are many others out there.

Where are these mounted in the car ?
