Hi Guys

Just taken the intercooler off and the fins look a bit clogged up so will have to clean them.

Has anyone cleaned the inside of the intercooler and if so how did you do it.

Mine look as if it needs cleaning. There is a bit of oil like substance laying in the bottom so it will probably need cleaning

Is it metal inside and not paper element?

If it is metal I wondered about spraying some Gunk or similar and washing through with hot water.

Would it damage it or what?

Cheers

Intercoolers always have some oil residue in them, if you want to flush it use some degreaser and wash thoroughly and dry thoroughly as well. I use a pair of radiator fin pliers to straighten out the fins on mine, but careful fettling with a fine pointed screw driver can work as well.

Hi Bounder

Thanks for your reply.

I thought as much. I cleaned it out as you suggest, yesterday.

Wasn't to bad inside but the external fins were solid.

Soaked them in gunk for a couple of hours and then flushed them out with the hosepipe

Worked a treat.

Cheers

Hi Jon_G

No difference at all.

I have just updated my thread Engine Surges And Hesitates

If you could look there it would be helpful

Many thanks
