Hi,

Few days ago on my way back home from work, engine management light came on.... upsss.

Day before car was filled with supermarket 99 octane fuel... must say this was my first higher octane fuel in my Accord.

Checked the fault and it is faulty Knock Sensor.

Next day car filled with standard fuel, thought the fault could be caused by fuel? No change.

Two days later filled car again with 99 octane unleaded and the light decide to go away, but only for few minutes... bit strange.

Anybody experienced this before and could different fuel be the cause of this issue?

Where can I get the sensor, cheap-ish? Honda quoted me 106 quid!

Cheers guys!

If you want to find the Honda part number start here https://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_car_parts_catalogue_C01.php

you will eventually get to a page with "thumbnails" like this (this page is for Tourer 2004 2.4 Exec) https://www.lingshondaparts.com/honda_car_parts_block_selection_C30.php?mod_01=529

when you open the correct "thumbnail" in the area you want, you will see the diagram at the top with part numbers listed beneath, but the part numbers begin with PFKlL. To get Honda part numbers, remove "_pfk" from the URL

I doubt the supermarket fuel would cause knock sensor management light more likely lean sensor as have had a few times when had to use supermarket fuel in an emergency I stick to esso, shell, bp, texaco and jet never had any problems or engine management light's.
As freddofrog advise you can find part number and search on internet you could try holdcroft honda as members get discounts, or even try a breaker although there is no guarantee how good the knock sensor is.
