hi,
i recently lost my 2005 honda accord key.

I obviously have the spare one, but i need another copy made.
I live in malta and got a quote for 185euro for the kay and 50e for the coding.

was thinking if i could at least got the key cheaper and then go to code it at the dealership.

however, the blank keys i found on ebay have no chip in them.
can you buy a blank chip as well from somewhere and then program it at the dealership?
are there key blanks with chip in them ?

any help would be appreciated

Hello Tony

My mate recently had this problem, he went down the route of buying a blank blade off ebay and then a second hand key off ebay, a key from a car already cut (most likely a writeoff). He will then transfer the guts of the second hand key into the blanl key. A guy local to us will then cut and reprogram it. However something to note, apart from this guy no other person was willing to cut the key for us. I would make sure the dealership you are going to use will allow for this method?

Hope that helps

i found this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HONDA-ACCORD-CIVIC-3-BUTTON-REMOTE-KEY-FOB-CASE-433MHZ-CHIP-ID48-/181094547601?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Safety_Security&hash=item2a2a138091

problem is i dont know which chip it takes.

got this reply from a seller :
"as far as I know, ID 46 is plastic one, id glass tube 48 is, maybe ask your local dealer what kind of chip does your key holds. Regards"
