I went to strip and clean my binding NS front brake caliper and the retaining bolts/pins under the rubber caps are a torx fitting, not the 7mm hex I was expecting, anyone know if there was a design change or if it's a replacement caliper (its ATE)? If anyone has an idea of the torx size I'd appreciate it as well, it's somewhere between a T40 and T50.

Thanks
Ian

Not heard of them having a torx fitting before, Ian. Sorry I can't help.

From what I remember they are torx style

Yep, almost certain they are. Can't remember which size.

Humm....

Been checking the service manual, and they are different.
Except KQ Model = Torx

KQ Model = Hex

Just don't know what KQ means (K series?)

Just found this about the Accord 5 fth gen. Maybe it applies to all gen?

KH = USA, Canada & Mexico Accords.
KG, KE, KZ, KS = European Accords.
KQ = Australian Accords.
KY = Saudi Arabian Accords.

Dude. That's a hex key, not a torx. It won't fit the bolts.

Trust me this is what you need. I did this last weekend.

I've got a 7mm hex and it doesn't fit as they're torx bolts. I could jam a hex in there but I don't fancy rounding them out. From what I can tell there's only a T45 between T40 and T50 so it must be that size. Thanks for your help folks.

1st rule of life: Don't jam anything where it doesn't belong!

Ian, you beat me to it, I've just been checking out torx sizes for you and was going to say T45. I've not got a torx set but I'm guessing a T45 is not a common size, just like you won't find a 7mm hex key on a standard set. I think they do it to stop us messing about too much.
