i removed the timing chain cover to find this!!

From a 2004 Accord I-CTDi oil pump chain snapped!!

Ouch probably down to poor maintenance and wrong grade oil.

What symptoms preceeded this occurrence ??

Any steadily increasing noises or just a sudden clunk. Did the engine get shut down quick enough to preserve the bearings & turbo?

I believe it was over time the noise got worse and worse. I bought the car like this cheap to break for parts. Ive removed the turbo and its in good condition.
