So I had my frequency solenoid replaced £117 down plus 50 to the garage. Faults cleared. Drives like a completely different car, but still goes into limp mode with the same error.

So to recap.

Rag it and it goes like stink.

Drive it sensibly there is a significant hesitation at 1800-2200 (EGR?). get to about 2500 and it starts going again. However, if I try from 1800 in fourth foot flat down it goes into limp mode after about 30 seconds and barely accelerates. If I milk the the throttle, it isn;t as bad.
Same for fifth gear.

P1237 was the error code

If I put the cruise control on at 60 and in fifth, it appears to go ok, although it did slow on a hill a bit once, but didn't the next time.

The IMRC made a massive difference to it driving in general, it accelerates and goes now without hesitating and I can pull out of junctions.

I've read about stick vanes on turbos and collapsed cats, my cat is blowing a little bit, but it's clearly getting rid of enough gases to go quickly if needed.

The specialist mentioned that I may have a faulty ECU that throws up an error code for boost pressure and is a known fault with a TSB, but I can't find the TSB or get honda to say there was one to give me an idea of where to start looking.

If the ECU is at fault can I put another cars ECU in it? Does it need immobilizer keys etc or can I get an immobilizer defeat on it?


Starting to get slightly miffed with it all now, but at 400 odd quid in now on the original buying price I'm getting to the point of having to keep it.





I don't understand an error code for lower boost than expected when it goes like stink if I boot it.
 
So decided to check the inlet manifold, butterfly flap etc to see how coked up it was.

Not very is the answer. One side was more so than the other, but that was on the side that didn't have the butterfly.

They parts were both very clean though and on removing I noticed the telltale sign of breaker yard markings, which suggests they were already replaced previously.
