Water in spare wheel well

Hi all

Got a decent leak into the spare wheel well on my petrol Mk7 and I can't figure out where from. The carpet is wet to the bottom left corner of the boot only, towards the rear of the car. The boot seal is fine and there's no water in the lights. It's taking maybe ten minutes for water to get through to the boot (I poured a couple of watering cans over the car).

Any ideas?

Think I might have sorted it. There is a hole next to the bolt that holds the rear bumper on, the one near the light cluster with the cap over it. Could someone tell me if this is normal? I think that's where the water is coming in.

It doesn't look like it's meant to be there and was maybe done for one reason or another when the bumper has been removed for respraying, which it has.

Anyway, I covered that area with a load of Gorilla tape and it's not letting any water in.
