Hi,
Something that has developed in the car of late, is a noise which appears to be from the front wheels.
It is hard to describe, however the best i can compare to is driving over cats eyes on the middle of the road, only a lighter more frequent thud.
Pressing on the brakes greatly worsens the problem. It will occur at any speed, fast or slow.
The strange thing is, that it doesnt occur all the time, some days its perfect, very smooth driving. There is no vibration up into the steering wheel.
Trying to eliminate potential causes:
1. Some light wear on the inside edges of the front tyres - I think if it was an alignment issue/tyre issue the problem would be permantly present, either back or front.
2. I would have thought brakes, i checked front wheels, and the only thing i see is an uneven wear, as in not purely flat on the faces, where the pads contact, the calipers semm ok, not siezed i havent checked the back brakes.
Thinking about this since though, when there is no vibration through the steering wheell, maybe it points to the back ones. That is if its brakes that are at fault.
3. Wheel bearings, i have jacked up the car at all wheel, and dont find any roughness/looseness in rotating the wheels.
Is there anything else to look at, or have you experienced this issue?
Thanks
