Hello, does anyone have a how-to about how to increase the opening of the tailgate (sedan) with the keyfob button? It opens just a bit, but is it possible to open it all the way up?

There is a thread on here somewhere where someone has retro fitted a spring system , (sorry cant find the link )

If you're saying that it struggles to open, opens a few cm and then drops back, then read all the way through this current thread

Hello Freddo, i drive the 4dr sedan/saloon. It doesn't seem to struggle. I guess it's just te way it left from the factory. If i push the remote button, it just unlocks and opens a few inches.

I hoped there was a tweak to set itself entirely open ;)

ooops I misunderstood ("tailgate" usually means "rear door of an estate") ... I should have asked for clarification when I saw your car was CL7

as Mark says in #2, there is a thread somewhere on getting the saloon "boot" to open properly

Steven, some member done this mod with damper, but can't remember who.

I have nice solution, will post short vid and explanation later when I get to my car :) Cost - £4.00 and about 15 mins. Result fully auto opening boot from remote. Note that you have to close it by hand anyway.
You need two tension springs.
Yes, that's all you need. I bought two from ebay listing number 121545552068, they're 98mm long, when I received them I realised they could be 20-30mm longer, because when boot is closed, these springs are stretched a lot, so they pull more than enough when opening. I extended them with two quickly made "S" hooks from 3mm soft steel rod, to make them 30mm longer. Hooked one end in the hole where that long rod is hooked, on the outside of boot arm, another end in hole under the side panel trim. You need them hooked in those holes in the arms, not on rods. If you don't do so, you are going to have a lot of noise when spring slides on boot tension rod. I put plastic sleeve on them to prevent rubbing (think it was heat shrink sleve- of course do not heat it just leave it on).
Maybe I will do diy thread about it lol

121331066839 from ebay it's with 30mm longer as you were looking for 130mm... Any down side noticed till now after this mod? Thank you.

On a bumpy road sometimes you can hear the springs (because they are streched)

And you have to close the boot harder then normal because of the springs.

I'd definitely be interested in a DIY thread for this, just with a few pointers or a clearer video of what you've done.

I did this at the weekend, great little mod especially when using the remote boot release!! I Just need to get used to not pulling up when manually pressing the boot release button on the tailgate as the lid will shoot up! :p Deffo a worthwhile mod! takes a bit more force to close the bootlid but its nothing you cant get used to.

Just one thing to note, the hole to hook the spring on the body side is the elongated hole next to the one the panel trim slots into...i also trimmed the corner of the trim panel away to stop the spring from rubbing...but that depends on how the fitment of your trim panel sits but i only trimmed away 0.5cm strip to stop the rubbing sound when opening and closing :)

Thanks MrNotEnglish for the mod!!

It's been a long time since my last visit here lol Probably because my honda keeps really well, no problems at all and doing 20k miles a year, haha. I'll try to remember to take video of it in the daylight and will pist it here. I'm happy you liked this little mod, helps alot when coming to the car with hands full after shopping.
