Hi all,

I was planning on getting my aircon re-gassed as it's not blowing cold. Just changed the pollen filter, was about to clean the aircon condenser fins (as recommended in the handbook) and noticed that lots of them are missing:

Looks pretty bad to me (but I'm no expert), is this too far gone to attempt re-gassing and will the condenser need replacing? I've just been reading some of the "diagnosing aircon problems" thread and I'm wondering if I'll be opening a big can of worms by trying to get it operational again

Thanks,

Leo.

does look pretty damaged that, can you see any visual leaks?

Like you say might be better to replace this before proceeding with the regas

Hi. Mine is bad but not as bad as that and I have great air conditioning. I bought the car over two years ago and I've never regassed it. I have to say though, I hardly ever use the air con. Usually just the heater in the winter. I hope this information helps.

Other than the missing fins I can't see any other damage

Thanks for the link, I've also done the first couple of checks on the "Diagnosing aircon problems" thread, I got the necessary "clunks" and the relay is okay, so maybe I'll get it re-gassed and see how things go. If I get the symptoms on the above thread then I'll know for sure my condenser is kaput and will need replacing.

Thanks again,
Leo.
