What's new

7th Gen - What have you done today?

Fitted a Xcarlink yesterday.
Pretty straight forward using a guide on here ( that I think actually came from another site but hey) apart from the plastic trim around the DVD drive that was a real pain as the two clips at the top didn't want to let go.
Other than that was OK.

Went for the Bluetooth option so also routed the microphone up to by the auto wiper sensor at top of windscreen for hands free.
Not had chance to give a proper test yet but the initial play on the drive, including a phone call to the other half in the house all seems good.

Lowered the back end to match the front.

Only lasted 30 minutes though.

Didn't want to risk taking more than 5 slabs at once. Grinds coming out of the driveway at the in-laws when it's unladen.

hoovered the inside and baby wiped the door shuts. Got the orbital out and had a go at the headlight lenses, might actually be able to see something at night now!
Also weighing up costs - of re-lowering car onto some new coilies and possibly spraying the front lip maybe even some second Hand wheels, the originals are looking tired much like me.
The prospect of mapping the old girl keeps circulating in my brain also. Probably still be circulating by Christmas time

Stuck a set of Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance on and managed to get the RHS Lemforder track rod end fitted.
LHS next, and I have to try and track down the source of an occasional knock when pulling off.
Hopefully its just rusty CV joint/hub interface but I'd like to get to the bottom of it.
Oh yes I must order a new Ex. Manifold kit from Ebay, the smell is driving me simple.

Very nice.

Changed rear right brake caliper because it was binding. Problem is solved.
Only difficult part was removing the handbrake cable. It was rusted solid, fused to the old caliper bracket. Used a hammer and the shaft of an old screwdriver to tap neatly around the outer edges of of the metal sleeve, exactly where it joins the bracket, using a brick to support the caliper.

To reduce brake fluid loss, I I swapped the brake line quickly from the old caliper to the new one, with the old one loose but still in place.

So... having looking at the prices of intakes for me cl9 and finding that ones that were couple of hundred still wouldn't let me put the sensor in I decided ill combine a few parts and make my own were all pipes and sensor connected (unlike my younger days).. so did find the main silicone part with all openings for cl7 which when studying pics of the throttle body looked the same and I did ask the question if the company new if they would fit but couldn't give me answer and never sent the measurements promised.. so took the chance.. it seems that not only is throttle body a different size it seems that it is also at a different angle.. anyway this is getting long so having only an hour or 2 on a Friday I ended having to order reducer elbows pipes and chop everything up and modify every bit to get this to work so 3 weeks later here was my result.. it works... I may look at this again further down the line but I got other things to do first... ;-)

Good to know Major774. Keep us informed of how it holds up.

My car sailed through another MOT test this morning.
117k on the engine and turbo,
172k on the chassis.

Ready for another year of towing, commuting, and being used in ways honda never intended.

I'm starting to grow fond of the old girl.
Done the same technique on my Merc., however, I used a different brand of spray for the clear coat.

This week I've had full decat back system fitted...

Very nice.

Amazes me what goes in the back of a tourer.

Dining table and 6 chairs earlier this year.

2 seater reclining sofa with removable backs last week.

Load of timber yesterday (only 2.4's, though it'll easily do 3.0s with the boot shut, and has carried 4.8's in the past.

And today it's got this lot, all refurbed and ready to go home to their owner - and the seats are still up.

I have returned from wrexham with my wheels and coilovers fitted although I feel I may want to drop the height by another 15mm...

I've had my front bumper off and replaced my rusted to hell fogs (with missing trims) with some new un-rusty ones sourced from Lithuania! They are the diesel type round ones.

Biggest diy job I've ever attempted.

Indeed. Took my bumper off for the first time last month and removing the bolts was impossible without shearing them all off. And luckily I had a decent selection of spare trim clips...
