Missing OBDII socket

Hi!

The pinout that you got is the same as the one I got, after testing it with a multimeter. I also tested the k-line against pin A-21 in the ECU, and the result was the same

5pin.jpg

1 - Ground
2 - Battery Voltage
3 - ???
4 - ???
5 - K-line

From the OBDII specifications, this is the correct pin-out used by ISO 9141-2(front part of the connector in the car):
OBD-connector-pinout.png

4 - Chassis Ground
5 - Signal Ground
7 - K-line
15 - L-line(optional)
16 - Battery Voltage

I have made manual connections from the 5 pin socket directly to the OBD reader using some "alligator clip wires" with no luck. I tried several groud "combinations", trying several "logic" grounds directly from the ECU with no luck.

In the repair manual, I found this diagrams, which are quite hard to understand. The first one, a Data Link Connection, plug C313, which is the OBD socket, is connected to ECU at the pin A-21(kline). Then there is L and N, which is connected the passenger under dash fuse box. I have no idea what N is. L seems to be some kind of ground.

Then there is these socket diagrams(seen from the wire side, back of the sockets, so everything is reversed)

From the pinouts and wire colors I got to this conclusion

Pin 15 of the OBD(wire side) is k-line -> ECU A-21
Pin 8 of the OBD(wire side) is Battery Voltage(WHT/GRN) -> the N from above -> connected to pin 15 of socket 303 of passenger's underdash fuse box
Pin 13 of the OBD(wire side) -> connected to pin 14 of socket 304 -> L from above -> not sure about this one, but according to OBD specifications, it should be Signal Ground.
Pin 12 of the OBD(wire side) -> Should be chassis ground
Pin 6 of the OBD(wire side) (LT BLU) I have no idea what this is, but it should not be needed.

I haven't connected pin 8 and 13 directly to the passenger underdash, I don't even know if I have those sockets. I might give it a try...

This wirings are found at the repair manual, it starts at 11-B-8 of the Accord 4/5 Door Supplement 00. An easy way to get there is to start at Accord 4/5 Door Supplement 00 -> Fuel and Emissions -> F18B2/../../ -> ECM/PCM Circuit Diagram

I hope you can reach some better results than me :rolleyes:

hi

Im readed your last message. In manuals book, I see 2 diagrams - with 3pins and 5pins plugs. On pictures in last mess - plug C313 is case of 16pins.
All what You write in last message - its about car with 3pins OBD plug. I see on your photos - in your
car - 5pins OBD plug.

All right. Accord 6gen CG8 have 3 type of OBD plugs:

-3pins + 2 pins
-5pins +2pins
-16pins or some cars both plugs 5pins & 16pins +2pins.

I begin to do my blog about OBD. May to see BLOG About OBD

So, You may to connect your OBD_reader to 5pins OBD_plug of car:

1. CARs 5pins plug ----> to 5pins plug of cabel, which You buy
1-----> 1
2-----> 2
5-----> 4
and this cabel connect to OBD reader.

2. CARs 5pins plug ----> to 16pins plug of OBD_reader, which You buy
1---->16
2---->5
5---->7

You must to use only 3 wires !!!

B) So I think - now You will to do wright connection.

Good Luck ;)

I guess you switched pins 1 and 2, it should be:

Cars 5pin ---> OBD socket
1 ---> 5 Ground
2 ---> 16 Battery Voltage
5 ---> 7 K-Line

I have already tried this one too, no luck...

Good day Skhell...
Two days ago, I connected to ECU my car. :rolleyes:
I coonected about schem:

1pin -ground (-) ---> ground (-)
2pin (+12V) ---> to +12V adapter
5pin K-Line ---> to K-Line adapter

Start enging and press-CONNECTION! :rolleyes: So-GOOD!

I seem any INFO about my car on screen my notebook and I very glad.

How are You?

HI,

That is very good news, I wonder if it is a problem with my adaptor. What adaptor and software did you used?

Also, which ground pin did you used on the adaptor, pin 4 or pin 5?

Skhell, On your 5pins plug output ground only 1,
2===> +12V
5===> K-Line
I think on adapter plug you must connect to signal ground!!!

About software.... I used , for beginning Russian soft, written
special for Honda and ONLY K-Line adapter type on IC MC 33199,
but not ELM 327 ! ! !

Every adapter worked with one type software !!! And adapter - USEd processor
(like ELM 327) or without him (MC33199).

So, You must to see type IC on your adapter ?????

After my work - I write You about software,becouse all at hiome ;)

What type of software used in your adapter????

Will try again later, but this time using the laptop instead of my Android phone with Torque, as there some cheap ebay adaptors which are known not to work with Torque...

Skhell dont worry about it
You need to knew all information about cheap of your adapter !!!
Or see inside adapter B) and write Me...

Have just tried with the laptop and a few OBD software with no success, I suspect its the cheap ebay OBD adapter which doesn't like my car...

Hi Pedro

Did you get this mod up and running ? I have a 2000 Honda Accord ES Coupe Right hand drive but built in the states. So I would have thought it had OBD2 connector but no such luck.
I ordered an Ultra Gauge reader from the states and a Honda 5 pin to OBD2 connector to test. Will keep you informed

Regards

Ian,

Unfortunately I got no luck :(
Let us know know if it works when you get the cable!

Ordered a 5-pin to OBD-II connector yesterday to try with my USB ELM-327.
Hopefully the post from China is prompt as I'm anxious to try this out!
