On travelling this weekend I had the ABS,VSA and triangle with exclamation mark pop up.

Do you think my VSA unit is gone as if it has then as the car has done 215000 miles its not worth getting repaired I would think, even though the engine doesn't burn much oil and runs like a dream and I've just had the air-con compressor replaced.....typical !!

Having read a few postings it would appear that it could be just an ABS sensor, is that correct ?
Is anybody near to Bedford/Northampton with the ability to check the codes/reset if required on a magic box for me for a fee ?

Any idea how much an ABS sensor replacement should cost ?

Any help and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Andy.

You got a replacement compressor then ...
copy-part or 2nd-hand ? and how much did the aircon guy charge you ?

Re the ABS/VSA problem, you can read the codes using a paper-clip on the SCS connector , see video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8M5BaAa6tCM

Note that the SCS connector (2 pin in the video) is not the same as the OBD2 connector (16 pin) but AFAIK there is a pin in the OBD2 that does the same function as the SCS ....but use the SCS connector instead because you won't damage anything by shorting the 2 pin SCS

edit:
all the ABS/VSA codes are listed in this post --> http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/23513-vsa-to-be-or-not-to-be-that-is-the-question-lol/?p=244588

You don't need to panic until you know what the problem is. Best case it just needs a neutralisation to be run, or a simple wheel sensor change (which can become a bit tricky if they have become stuck in and need drilling out). I can personally vouch for JapanParts sensors, having fitted one recently... it cost £40 from an eBay seller (Mick's Garage), but I've heard of people using £15 sensors that also worked OK.

This thread has instructions on how to link pins 4 & 9 of the OBD2 socket using a paperclip to access built-in routines to delete and read ABS plus perform a neutralisation... http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/23396-abs-vsa-fault-anybody-got-any-advice-please-cos-i-wanna-scream/page-2#entry242991

Edit - beaten to it! Hopefully our replies agree!

Hi Brian,

I got the Air-Con man to supply and fit the copy part I believe, although I'm sure he said it was OEM !!
The cost was £500 including an auxiliary belt.

Whereabouts in the car is the plug for getting the codes ?

If that was OEM then he's found somewhere to get a mega discount, maybe a TSX part from the USA

Anyway, I just realised that the SCS connector on the 7th and 8th gen Accords is not a "flying lead" as in the video, but it's a socket in the under-dash fuse-box ...so forget that.

However the SCS also, definitely, comes out on pins 9 and 4 of the OBD2 connector.

The pinout of the OBD2 connector is here --> http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/23513-vsa-to-be-or-not-to-be-that-is-the-question-lol/?p=244589

Other than using pins 4 and 9 on the connector, follow the guide in the video to get the codes, but make sure that you get the correct orientation of the OBD2 connector (pin 9 should have a brown wire connected to it, pin 4 should have a black wire connected to it) . Start the video at this point when you have identified pins 9 and 4 on the OBD2 connector --> https://youtu.be/8M5BaAa6tCM?t=5m23s and then play the video until 9:30

The codes are listed here --> http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/23513-vsa-to-be-or-not-to-be-that-is-the-question-lol/?p=244588

They won't read ABS/VSA codes, only engine codes (aka "P" codes) see here for detailed explanation --> http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/23513-vsa-to-be-or-not-to-be-that-is-the-question-lol/?p=244589

time to copy and paste me thinks. Vsa has got to be one of / if not the most commonly posted problems.
That and my diesel is losing power / goes in to limp mode etc
