Since my last service I've done nearly 5,000 miles and its gone down a tiny bit, about a mm below max level.

Same thing happened to me, clutch kept getting stuck on the floor, ended up changing the clutch which sorted it and might be a good idea to change flywheel if you intend on keeping the car, bit costly though but sorted it.

I changed both my driveshafts for shaftec and they have been great! I've done over 50k miles with them, still going fine! Recommended and not too expensive, £160 for the pair.

I'm surprised the alternator didnt give you a warning scraping sound before hand? Or did it? Anyway.... I got a rebuilt alternator from a place in Borehamwood 3 years ago, paid £170 fitted, no problems at all!
