I had a bit of advice today to say its likely the intercooler is damaged and/or a pipe leaking the oil out. As the car is driving fine and no smoke he thinks its unlikely to be the turbo....

Hi everyone Would really appreciate a bit of advice on an oil leak i've come across... I've noticed a spray/dots of oil over the top of my engine bay mainly N/S to central. I checked the dip stick and engine cap. Both are not leaking any oil. I then noticed that its pretty oily around the...

Did that and the level was lower than on a cold engine reading but still above the max mark...so left it a few more mins and then drained about 1litre. It's now showing at the max mark :) One less thing to have to worry about.. ;) Thanks for all the help and advice!! Much appreciated everyone.

I suspect your garage has over filled the oil. Have you had the excess oil removed? I suspect so too! - pretty obvious it seems now. It will be drained back down to the right amount tomorrow morning by a friend :)

Interesting freddofrog... I've checked on a cold engine and warm engine twice (once after 1 hour being parked and once after 2 hours being parked)...but not exactly like this one says. I cant think of any reason except for excess oil that it would be so far over the maximum hole on the...

It was on a very very slight slope, I checked again with the car parking the opposite way around and then later on a very flat surface. All 3 checks showed the same level on the dipstick...no spirit level required lol

Yep - as far over the maximum mark as the distance between the maximum and minimum holes on the dipstick. I went to the garage this morning and told the mechanic there is no DPF...he said "theres no dpf hmmmmm I'll get the computer to tell me what amount should go in and re fill it again from...

Its those kind of things Ive read that makes me uncomfortable driving it with what seems like a lot of excess oil.

Thanks a lot freddofrog Thats going to be done tomorrow. Its making me feel uncomfortable driving it around with that much excess oil in...as I'm not sure what damage might be being done while I'm driving it. The work horse cant afford to be off duty :)

I would expect them to at least look into whether the car has an active DPF or not before they state its 99% the reason for the sump showing too much oil :) I've had the car parked on a very flat ground for a couple of hours today after running it an hour...***uming that is long enough for all...

The garage did say theyd do a full diagnostics on the car as part of the service. Not sure if that would indicate the car having a DPF or not... If not Im guessing like you say its then down to hands on experience and whether he can really be bothered to follow it up...he also said it would...

Am i right to think that the 7th Gen pre facelift accord doesnt havent a DPF?

Thanks Honda Guy. I forgot to say after Id come back from the garage and parked up for a while the levels were back up over the max mark like before again. My drive way has a very slight slope and I've never seen an increase like this before when I've checked the levels. Sounds like I need...
