    Average annual mileage is 7-8k Only owned the car 3 months.

    It pulls well in all gears & seems fine apart from the faults I mentioned. I just hope it's not the piston rings as I have read it's not financially viable to have them repaired.

    Thanks for that. Will check for blue smoke. Can't see any from starting the car when I am in it. Would I need someone at the back of the car whilst I start it to check? The timing belt was done at a garage. I am using 5w 30 oil at the moment but have read on here that 5w 40 may be better...

    Sorry, and thanks for your reply. It's a 2ltr injection petrol. It's going from the second indicator on the dipstick to the lower indicator after doing around 140 miles. I don't rag the car either. The DMF was done when the clutch was done.
