I unfortunately did some damage allowing air into the system and the fuel pressure regulator had to be replaced today.

just to put this to bed I finally got the issue sorted. so the priming most starts was my fault I very stupidly put the hoses the wrong way around on the fuel filter. that was that. however still wasn't starting on first turn and there was a diesel smell and eventually spotted some leaks...

I don't have, I did get a diagnosis done recently and it said there was a fuel pressure issue, that's why I changed to the genuine filter to hopefully eliminate that.

I've took the cover off today and checked the connections they are all good. the primer isn't staying hard even when the engine has been run. I primed it till it was hard today and let it run, checked the primer and it was still not hard, also it's taking at least 5/10 seconds to start each...

thanks and that's why I changed it because it wasn't the bosch. i'll try that tomorrow maybe it is a clip as it only happened a few days after it was changed.
