Hi everyone,
I need some advice regarding the timing chain on my Honda Accord 2.2 i-CDTi (N22A1 engine). Is it worth going for an aftermarket chain, how long do they usually last and which manufacturer would you recommend, or should I stick strictly to the original Honda part?

The car has around 300,000 km and the OEM chain costs about €1000, which feels a bit too much for this mileage. Any experiences or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

Is the engine making noises ?

Do you have service history ?

Are you a new Honda owner ?
Yes, the engine is making noise without the serpentine belt on, so it definitely needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, I don’t have the service history, so I’m not sure if the timing chain has ever been replaced before. I have this car for 3 years.

amayama.com, OEM timing kit is 30% of dealer price.
Can you maybe send me a link of some kind for timing kit? As I try to add one by one I noticed some parts are discontinued.

There are two chains in the engine, other members/threads have suggested changing both together.

As far as I can see the only part that's discontinued is the tensioner guide, you can try megazip as they seem to have it in stock.

They have 15% sale going on for 10 more hours so be quick.

Thanks! I’m planning to tackle this in a few months, so I’ll return to this thread with an update then.
