Thanks Mate - There's a EGR on ebay for 55 at moment - so I'll probably go with that and see where that leads me!! I'll post new findings when I get it on! Thanks for your help (again!)

Thanks for your reply! Never mind about the rugby!! I did clean the iirc a few months back - flap was ok and moving freely. My next port of call is to get a EGR off fleabay OR look at FSV, what would you recommend next?

if you click the photo (its actually a video!?) its only opening a few mm - with the 12v applied and the valve open, I can push the valve down much further with my screwdriver and there seems to a bit of resistance/squeaking/creaking in there?

If I apply the 12volts - is it worth poking around with a toothpick etc inside???

Thanks for your input guys - Yes the car is Pre facelift 2004. I didn't read codes myself - a local garage did (courtesy of a £5 groupon deal!) so I don't know whats on/off as regards codes etc. Is there a DIY on forcing the EGR valve to operate?? I'm going cross-eyed following links on here...

Done this today - good write ups by both guys- quick question tho - should I be able to physically move a part within the egr to prove that it's not stuck?? CheersCarl

Cleaned inlet valves today, but still no joy! Will clean EGR tomorrow and see what happens, then onto faddy I think!!

Any advice guys?

UPDATE - unplugged the sensor clip from the frequency solenoid valve and Mrs seems to think that it's better - I drove it and thought it was still driving like a dog! Am I right to now look at the EGR valve - or shoud I bite the bullet and see Faddy? Bear in mind car has done over 230K and...

Finally got around to doing the FF yesterday - I'd totally forgotten what a pain that back bolt is - but did it in under an hour all in so quite pleased! Unfortunately the problem still persists - no glow plug light (mrs said that went out in the week!) :-) , but not much power when accelerating...
