Completely unnecessary, Nylocks are perfectly fine as long as the whole nut is fully screwed on and they are not frequently removed. Use a threadlock if you're concerned.

If it starts with EasyStart and then continues to run fine it isn't a fuel delivery problem it's a starting problem, I'd check or replace the glow plugs.
