Vibration when driving above 60mph and when braking

Whilst warping discs isn't that common these days... this normally applies to vented discs and the rears on these cars are solid. Excessive high speed driving and hard braking and then suddenly stopping and parking up can cause heat soak and cause warping.. It's kinda hard to do, but very...

Meet the new daily driver - Project Log

Looks like I've also got to replace the Fuel Pressure Limiter Valve, as I'm getting fuel past the valve when cranking. Problem is that on the Accord the power steering pump is in front of the valve, so you can't get a socket on it... and because they're on so tight you need really good leverage...

    Limp home - P1065 = Fuel Filter?

I'll do the filter first and see if that helps... if not I'll see if I can check the pressure on the fuel rail. Do you have a part number for the FL CDTi one? Or are they a common part between the PFL/FL models... If the tourer doesn't sell she's gonna get broken and that's...

Meet the new daily driver - Project Log

I picked this up at the end of Sept last year for a reasonable price... It had plenty of issues and I discovered a few more as I started fixing things. Wheels were in a pretty poor state, there was rust on 1 door that really needed replacing not repairing. The top LCD was flickering, the...

    Limp home - P1065 = Fuel Filter?

Gotta do my fuel filter next week... Just want to double check as the car has been getting harder to start... I'll be doing the filter regardless as I've serviced everything else, flushed the brakes... Missed a gear change last week had in 5th when speed dropped down to 15-20mph and she...

    Twin pipes for a diesel?

You've also got to factor in a replacement rear bumper as the diesels have no cut outs for a tailpipe and the 2.4 with the twin pipes has one either side. Which means finding a 2.4 rear bumper or modifying your own... which will look crap.

    Lights, HID, LED, Standard

In my experience, providing you've got projector lights and headlight washers OR auto levelling headlights... the HID upgrade should be fine left fitted.

    Fuel filter

Most petrol cars I've ever worked on, the fuel pump/filter was in the top of the tank, and could be accessed from under the rear seat... No idea if it's the same on the Accord but designs do tend to be similar across many manufacturers.

    New Purchase - New Project

I might look into that later, not had any problems with my 05 EX Tourer, cleaned the EGR and then did it again 12-18 months later and the build up wasn't much at all... I think this one has simply never been cleaned in 10yrs. Even though it's got a full Honda service history, I think it's been...

    Oil change

0w30 low saps, I use a Total fully synth one, 7 lts from Amazon for £48 delivered. Gives me enough for the change and any top ups it needs over the next 6-8k between changes. last time I bought it, I forgot I still had 1lt left over... so I've actually got 8lts, almost enough for 2 changes. :)

Accord Full LED Conversion - Bulb Guide - Courtesy of www.HorizonLEDs.co.uk

I've already swapped over most of my bulbs with LEDs, just need to do the rear indicators and stop lights... But I'm having trouble finding bulbs that can replace the dual filament. I also need some indicator bulbs with the load resistor built in.

    Fuel filter

If it's a diesel on a PFL it's a pig of a job to do... and make sure you get a proper Bosch one and not some cheap after market part... A new one isn't expensive and cheap ones will cause you more costly problems down the road.

    New Purchase - New Project

Pics from the work we did last Thursday. Headlights after wet sanding with 2000 & 2500 paper, then polishing with a DA and 2 types of meguiars first/second stage compounds. The door swap, and you can see just how bad the EGR valve was... the throttle body wasn't as bad, but still pretty...

P2004 - IMRC Intake Manifold Runner Control problems

Yes, the Frequency Solenoid Valve costs about £130 and it's really easy to swap over on a facelift (also easy on PFL). Simply take the engine cover off (4small nuts) and the FSV is front and centre just above the EGR, it's a little black unit a couple of inches across with some vacuum pipes...

    New Purchase - New Project

Loads more work done this week. Door swap, it was easier to pick up another door in the same colour than repair the patch of rust on the bottom... £70 vs £350. :) Colour match is good, but not perfect... however there's more than enough lacquer on the car to allow for a decent cutting and...

    High mileage club?

DPF removal is a very dodgy area now, and you'd have to refit it for every MOT.. and if you get stopped and they find it's removed... large fines, cancelled insurance and so forth... They've really tightened up the rules because to many people were removing them and spewing out high levels of...

Bluetooth module working, still monitoring to check for battery drain.. Hard to do when the car is idle and alarmed for 2 weeks... which will drain the battery too. But given that it dodn't drain it within the first 5 days which most people say it does. I'm saying it's functional for now...
