I would change it to a CD player with mp3/aux reader included, but if tape with the wire doesn't sound great then you may have bad speakers too, they do deteriorate over time, so be prepared to think about a speaker change too in the future.

I presume you have tried to take it to 7,000rpm.............the feeling for this car is not a savage as the Vtec engines of the type r or euroR. 3,500- 4,500 is where the most torque is, then it picks up pace quite quickly through the revs. It feels like there are 3 stages to the engine...

still been looking, I cant find any for your model of car. got me stumped, can they be purpose made??
