Yeah as I say mate under the bonnet I can hear something slightly but not that loud. It's a lot louder when it's inside the car. Hence if the water pump is gone maybe the sound is travelling through the cooling system pipes and getting amplified somehow. It's a really weird sort of drone sound...

Oh and you only get it when warm. It's quiet as a mouse when cold. Infact tbh it's a really nice car before it warms up. Lovely and quiet.

Are you certain he's only had it serviced twice mate? Surely he'd of had it done more than that? The old fellas are usually the ones that look after them.

If you're still getting spongey brakes I'd have a good look around the car for leaks in the system. Check underneath for rusting and leaking brake pipes and check the rubber hoses for leaks too. If they're ok then maybe have a go at bleeding the system again.
