    Power steering fluid leaking

The big one that runs from the PAS pump over and down the back of the engine. The usually develop a little pinhole where they sit in the clip near the rocker cover, and pee PAS fluid down the back of the engine, which then gets blown back over the rack.

Now that is odd???? Car's not bent like a banana is it? If the rear wheels are parallel and Pointing straight, and the fronts parallel with the rears it should go straight without scrubbing tyres. If the rears are still parallel with each other, but not pointing in the same direction as the...

    Power steering fluid leaking

Is the high pressure hose still clean? Mine went up near the cam cover, bit ran down the back of the block and all over the rack. All the oil was nowhere near the hole.

What about the rear wheels? Are they at zero toe too?

The virtues of double wishbone suspension

I bought my legacy back in 2011 with 51k on it, and sold it 4 years later at 126k In that time all it had was front shocks, a drop link, a pair of front LCA bushes and track rod ends, and even then that's only because I'm really fussy. The motor just had the usual service parts and the...

The virtues of double wishbone suspension

The geometry of all these cars will be Good, no matter the setup, as that doesn t really effect price. It's the quality of components that's cheap. The main reason a lot of cars designed for circuit racing have a double wishbone setup is so that they can have a push rod type suspension system...

The virtues of double wishbone suspension

The tourers have a lateral link setup at the rear which gives the same kind of progression through the stroke as a double wishbone. It's to try and maintain the geometry at different ride heights because you can load them with lots of stuff.

The virtues of double wishbone suspension

The two systems change their geometry dependant on where the wheel is within the suspension stroke, so the amount of body roll is entirely relevant. You also.have to bear in mind that the angle and position of a McPherson strut can also be tailored to suit, and ultimately most of the gain you...

The virtues of double wishbone suspension

My point was that standard dampers are so poor, it doesn't matter of the cars got a fancy double wishbone setup or a McPherson strut. Anyone that's fitted a good set of cartridge type dampers knows they can both be stiffer and more plush, as they are softer initially for comfort, yet stiffer in...

:D you been reading the sales blurb again?

The virtues of double wishbone suspension

Agreed, I qualified my statement on purpose. I also agree that the 6th gen turns in and tracks over the bumps better than a 7th Gen, and wallows less too. The whole point of my post though, was that it doesn't matter if the overly complicated doible wishbone front suspension (and rear too on...

The virtues of double wishbone suspension

When people would get in it, they'd always comment on how good it sounded and how good the ride quality was. (As drivers though, it was always how good the steering rack was, and how the gearbox matched the revvy motor so well) When I phoned Subaru for replacement bilsteins, they actually...

The virtues of double wishbone suspension

The Jap market stuff and the EU cars are are world apart as standard. Proper Japanese spec cars are great to drive like my Spec B (whixh means it's Bilstein equipped) Legacy, and my old imported S14 Silvia. Had both cars when they were only a couple of years old too, and were initially sub-60k...

The virtues of double wishbone suspension

If you compare it to a Citroen or a Vauxhall perhaps. I love an accord, but they handle like crap and have very little grip compared to some of the other cars I've owned. They're better than most, just they're far from the best. A good set of dampers and springs is worth far more than a...

The virtues of double wishbone suspension

Doesn't matter how good the geometry is when the stock springs and dampers are absolute toilet. A regular accord is not designed for going round corners.

    25 yrs of Type R

https://goo.gl/images/8ph297 https://goo.gl/images/bTWURV Nicer materials, firmer seats and a far more solid, dynamic feel to the car compared to a 7th gen. The it reason I bought my 7th Gen over a 6 was that that I wanted a diesel estate.

Definitely. My grandfather bought himself a new one when I was borrowing his 4th gen for a fortnight. Far nicer inside, and felt more special than my similarly specced 7th gen EX. It's thanks to him that I keep buying Hondas - He loves an Accord. Great cars.

    Wheel Tracking

Grab a spirit level, and measure the offset from vertical at the top of the tyre, and measure the wheel height. Using a bit of trigonometry, you can work out the camber at all four corners, and start eliminating things. Also measure that the wheels are sitting in the same position in the arch...

    Wheel Tracking

Next to nothing in the rear of a tourer. You can adjust the length of the lower arm on the bolts, but that changes toe and camber together. As long as the two tyres each end are parallel with their partner, they'll follow together, even if it crabs one way or another. If you have one toe-ing...

    Wheel Tracking

By now I'd have set up a couple of string lines down the sides of the car, and had a 3' level up the side of the wheels to check the camber. The last time I had the tracking adjusted at a garage, I ended up re-doing it myself using a tape measure and two huge straight-edges to stop it...
