Tbh I just drove home the ten miles as normal then parked up, handbrake on and sat the revs at 2k for 30seconds, let off the revs and left it and it stopped down to just over 500 revs and all is well now it will drop to 1k then to normal idle with half a second .

Hey thanx for the help. I got home after a good 20mile drive, sat with the revs at 2k and all seems well now she settles quickly on idle just over 500 so maybe should be a tad higher but she doesn't seem too struggle at that level.

Seems smoother now, once warm is it safe to take the revs right up-to the red line and a bit into it? Also with it being a 1.8 will it be ok at say 90mph for an extended period on the motorway at my own risk of points.

As above is there a certain procedure for the above. Clutch for instance pump the pedal a few times then hold it down open the nipple let the fluid out shut the nipple pump the pedal and so forth till fish fluid come thru?

Ok so is castrol edge 5w30 fully synthetic going to be ok for my 2001 reg 1.8i VTEC with 103k on the clock. The mate I bought it off had the oil changed 9k ago but that was 2years ago and it was with 5w30 also.
