Old skool (ATR) vs pre skool (euro r)

How much are you looking to spend? I posted this in another thread, but I think the JDM 6th gen Euro-R is an epic looking car. Same engine as the ATR but it's in a different chassis, and there's a lot of low mileage cars lurking around in Japan: That one in the pics has done about 62,000...

    My problems in one thread

I'm inclined to agree with Fahad on this one, I wouldn't be so quick to diagnose the head gasket. Not without a hydrocarbon sniffer test and compression test first. Also, the H22 is a strong engine in that respect, I'm on a Prelude forum as well as this one and I think I've only heard of 2 head...

    corrosion on rear arch

You'll probably find it's rusting from the inside of the arch mate rather than the outside. Usually what happens is road dirt mixed with water gets caked inside the arch, and it keeps moisture pressed against the metal work for long periods. This eventually penetrates the gaps where panels are...

Can you disable the ABS light by removing a fuse or something?

There's a road in Newhaven which is on an incline and is surfaced with those concrete sections rather than tarmac. It's residential but fairly busy as it's a bit of a rat-run, and one side has parked cars down it constantly. at the bottom it goes round a blind bend and there is also another road...

Stereo to 3.5mm plug adaptor from ebay, do they work ok?

I think 'X Car Link' (sp) is designed to do this on Accords, it functions through the aux input of the head unit. I think a few people on here run them so they may be able to advise?

I love that shade of blue. Epic :)

It might also be worth checking that all the earths are in good condition?

Accord 2.3 Type V Missfire/Judder loss of power

As above, check your oil. The engine will engage limp mode if the oil pressure isn't sufficient, I've had this happen to my 6th gen and it would be my first port of call.

Genuine Honda Clutch Kit or Aftermarket Clutch Kit?

Is it a remanufactured part perhaps? I only suggest that as it looks like there's some kind of wear pattern on the fingers of the release plate - the last clutch kit I bought didn't look like that (albeit for a different honda and a different brand of kit).

    Is my car too expensive?

Like Impne said earlier, December is just an awful month for selling cars as 99% of people are likely to be focusing their finances on Christmas. And as much as I love Accords, they are pretty niche cars which can affect their saleability. I think it'll either be a case of giving it away...

Is certain petrol better then others (local garage fuel vs bp/shellv power fuels)

As somebody who owns older cars the big concern I have with fuel is how much ethanol does it contain. In short ethanol in petrol is bad for the majority of cars unless they are very new and the materials used in their design accounted for fuels containing ethanol. As far as I'm aware the only...

5th Gen aerodeck pollen / cabin filter

Not all cars with aircon did, I've got a fair few aircon equipped cars that don't. Pollen filters started appearing in the late 90's as an anti allergen feature more than anything if I'm not wrong.

5th Gen aerodeck pollen / cabin filter

Are you sure it has one mate? I had a look on lings but I couldn't see that they fitted one to the UKDM's.

    Fitting Mud Flaps

Failing that, if you can't find OEM ones could you not fab up a simple bracket that spans from bumper to inner arch using a thin strip of metal, similar to how people support universal induction pipes?

Oil Type for 6th Gen ?

I have used 10w40 semi synth in both my Accords and both Preludes (MY 2001, 1987, 1992 and 1986) as that's what the service manuals dictate for the temperature range in the UK, like Andy said.

End of the road for my 6G...

As exec said, the 6th gen is one of the most solid cars out there tbh. Sounds like this one might have been subject to a hard life under a previous owner - can't say I've heard of many (if at all any) gearbox failures on a 6g on this forum? At any rate I wish you better luck with your next car...

Accord being discontinued in the UK?

The Accord isn't built in the UK though so it suffers from the exchange rate - there's not much they can do if it costs x amount to build in Japan and then the value of the yen against the pound inflates the price of the car. To be honest the UK/Europe is Honda's smaller market, Japan and the...

    HID Query

Levellers and headlight washers aren't needed for an MOT pass with HID's, many cars come from the factory with HID's but neither auto levellers nor headlight washers. The MOT guide isn't clearly worded and unfortunately not all MOT testers are as literate as we'd like. The gist of the MOT specs...
