    This VTEC thing

Take the front bumper off, and the resonator is a big black plastic box below the wing on the offside. It just unbolts from the body of the car from memory. I removed mine after I fitted my induction kit as it was just uneccasary weight, and once it was removed there was space for a cold air...

    "My '87 Accord GSi"

Cheers Steve :) I've not done much with it since i got it, but hopefully once I've moved I'll start doing a bit of work tuning her up subtly - exhaust and intake are the top priorities currently. Ive disconnected the resonator and the car came fitted with a 4-2-1 manifold, no cat and a straight...

    "My '87 Accord GSi"

Whilst driving back from the shops this evening I thought I'd stop off at the beach and make the most of the moody weather. Just so happened to coincide with the ferry coming in to the port too, happy days.

    ALB Problem

Just realised I never updated this!! I cured the problem a few months ago - I was forced to slam on the brakes hard (as in I'm going to crash into this idiot who's just pulled out a junction hard  ) at 60mph, and ever since then the ALB system has been working faultlessly. The ALB light...

    Type V sat nav system

I had a look into this myself, I think you also require the loom running from the dash to the disc drive, and you also need the GPS receiver unit. Lings have the diagram and parts list on their website, you just need to sign up and you should be able to view it by manually selecting an Accord...

    front grill from facelift

I think it should fit, from memory they just changed the badge & slats. As for aftermarket ones there's not much choice other than buying a Type-R grill as far as I'm aware. Or you can just make your own, I did :)

    "My '87 Accord GSi"

Went to visit my Dad today and lend him a hand wiring up a tow bar. Whilst my car was on the drive I thought it would make for a cool pic :) We also took his Eunos roadster out for a spin round the local back roads with the roof down, I've got to say those little Mazda's are wicked fun to...

    Twitchy Speedo

Jon - cheers for the info RE frayed/damaged cables causing dodgy speedo needles on older motors, you've saved me having to bother starting a thread on the Scirocco forum asking why the speedo on my Scirocco is all over the shop

    Oh dear unusual clutch problem?

Funnily enough this is a common problem on mk2 Scirocco's, the bulkhead wasn't strong enough where the clutch cable housing mounted and most of them eventually give up one day - you put the clutch down and just tear a hole in the bulkhead  happily, the fix is to just weld a plate back in...

    Forte Advanced Diesel Treatment.

I think the only way we can tell if these formulas work is if somebody gets their injectors flow tested, runs a tank of additive/cleaner, and then gets them tested again. Would be a nuisance to do but would at least give us some real life evidence. Maybe I'll do it to my Prelude at some point...

without being sexist can i say...

Women are usually better drivers, more careful etc. etc. It hurts our male pride but its well documented :) we crash more because we are more likely to drive carelessly for whatever reasons  My girlfriend is a good driver, although she used to absolutely cane it in the Prelude when the...

    Has anyone changed the front

As Linas said the upper ball joints can be pressed out and replaced. I paid a mate to do it cos I'm lazy/useless, he charged £15 for the labour and I bought the ball joint for £9. I'm doing the same job on my Prelude shortly, but I'm just buying a cheap aftermarket control arm rather than...

    Sainsburys Super unleaded

I'm going to hazard a guess that this is down to the octane rating of the fuel - I'd be surprised if the K24 wasn't fitted with a knock sensor, which would retard your ignition timing if it detects detonation. Running higher octane fuel enables your engine to run uninhibited :D iirc even on...

    Sainsburys Super unleaded

I use it all the time as it's cheap and my local Shell closed so no V-Power anymore :( I don't rate the sainsburys fuel though as it's supermarket stuff, ie. the quality isn't likely to be consistent as I understand they use various suppliers to keep costs down. Only reason I use it over the...

    EPS - Electric Power Steering

JDM 6th gens definitely had it. Not sure about UK cars, though I'd be surprised of the 8th gen didn't have it as it's fairly common on new cars. I prefer hydraulic PAS though, or even better no power ***istance at all :P I like the feedback from the wheels!

Do we have a forum standard mounting place for the stickers on our cars? :P

Can you upgrade your cams on the stock ECU map?

Eric, I don't think the point of 'you could get a faster car for x amount rather than spend x amount of money on upgrading y on your current one' is a particularly valid one - everyone on this forum could sell their car and use the money to buy something faster. I paid £650 for my Xsara, same as...

Can you upgrade your cams on the stock ECU map?

I swapped the cam shaft out of my mk2 Golf for a more aggressive one, it was nice and easy! Just had to make sure you torqued the retaining bolts down in sequence and you were good to go once the valve cover was back on and you were sure you had the timing belt aligned correctly on the new...
