DIY - Changing satnav Satellite navigation splash screen

Depends which version you are referring to, for v3.40 more work is needed, for this version you also have to extract HMIManager.dll, and do some code changing here. Also you can't just load those 6 files onto a CD or single layer DVD to boot the SATNAV before putting your original disk back in...

    ** DIY - FULL LED CONVERSION **

It's clearly interfering. There is circuit inside the LED that is radiating, all I can think to ask for now is when you wired the camera did you use screened 75ohm cable?

    ** DIY - FULL LED CONVERSION **

Anyone who is swapping the indicators out for LEDs is aware you need to load the circuit to get the flash at the right rate. Instead of buying resistors you can just solder the original, or a slightly lower power bulb across the connector. You have to add the extra pair of wires anyway, so...

    Another Tourer Camera Option

I've looked at a host of cameras for the Tourer hoping to find a straight replacement for the number plate light but never could seem to find it. So I went ahead and got this one. Ebay and here it is It just needs a hole cutting above the number plate, like so. It could have gone either...

    Exhaust fumes/smell in cabin I-CTDI

Nick, the cracked manifold has quite an impact on mpg. I thought mine was OK, but since having it done its definitely higher, only done about 100 local miles, just round town stuff and its indicating 45mpg, (I know that's not likely to be accurate, but useful for comparison}, prior to the...

Wrong gender for me to get excited about.

    Exhaust fumes/smell in cabin I-CTDI

Actually just a quick anecdote to add to this. I have one of those drive recorders on my windscreen, (a 'Smarty' GPS), when the ignition is on the camera is recording. I got quite a few minutes of the car with the bonnet up and things being done before the job started properly, but afterwards...

    Exhaust fumes/smell in cabin I-CTDI

I've just collected mine after the manifold replacement. No fumes on the couple of miles drive back home, apart from that smell you get from a new exhaust, which is reassuring and will pass after a few more miles. Opened up the bonnet when I got back and first thing I noticed was it is quiter...

MAF & MAP Sensor Cleaning & IMRC Valve Cleaning

I think as soon as as the ECU has been reset by whatever method, just start up and drive off. It'll be fine and learning will begin. When I used IPA at work no precautions were taken, and we got it on the skin, it does dry out the skin but as far I know in small amounts nothing harmful or...

MAF & MAP Sensor Cleaning & IMRC Valve Cleaning

Carl, wanted to add, I think this has been a good discussion and I've certainly got more knowledge thanks to your research and input, and as we know, knowledge is power. Isn't this a good example of just one aspect of what the forum should be about, exchanging ideas, learning and building up a...

MAF & MAP Sensor Cleaning & IMRC Valve Cleaning

I did wonder about the temp sensor, it's not as if the temp is changing wildly and it it needs to keep up, it will be gradual and not sensitive to a few degrees. The sensor itself is insulated inside the plastic cover. Mine was smoking badly, when a mate followed me he said it smoked every...

MAF & MAP Sensor Cleaning & IMRC Valve Cleaning

Just wanted to add another couple of comments. I took the MAP off and had a close look at it, obviously was very dirty due to its location. There are two sensors in there, one is pressure the other is temp. After thinking about it I'm not sure either of them will be effected by a bit of external...

    Exhaust fumes/smell in cabin I-CTDI

They all seem to failing at once. I've just got back from Marshal Honda in Mountsorrel who confirmed mine is cracked too. I should know by later today or tomorrow that the warranty claim will be honoured, but they saw no reason why not, and expected to be able to do the work in about 3 or 4 days...

P2004 - IMRC Intake Manifold Runner Control problems

Well done Carl, excellent. I think what this shows us is that 'full service history' and a lifetime of garage servicing just isn't enough. Years ago I always did my own servicing and repairs out of necessity, I couldn't afford to pay a garage, and I think I always went the extra mile to do a...

MAF & MAP Sensor Cleaning & IMRC Valve Cleaning

There was some discolouration and little bits in the pot afterwards. I did keep agitating it every now and then, it was my thinking that it would soak into any crud and dissolve it. I used to use IPA at work a lot, mainly for cleaning video tape heads on broadcast VTRs amongst other things, its...

MAF & MAP Sensor Cleaning & IMRC Valve Cleaning

It is a good write up, thanks, great detail you've gone too. I agree with you cleaning it can only be a good thing. When I cleaned mine previously the first thing I noticed was reduced tick over when cold, my journey from home begins along 100 meters or so where about 10mph is the max speed...

    DPF What is it?

Do you think it will just take time to get the diesel emissions down in a way that works? Petrol may be clean burning now in most countries, but it took the best part of a hundred years to get it that way, and don't forget the damage that leaded petrol caused is enormous. Unleaded petrol is...

    Check Engine Light

The spec is OBD2 and an ELM327 interface from Ebay has served most of us well. They usually come bundled with some free or 'sort of free' software. Personally I can recommend PCMSCAN software, stands out above the rest and offers some good logging too if you like to play. Edit to add: I was...

MAF & MAP Sensor Cleaning & IMRC Valve Cleaning

OK, sounds reasonable, thank you for clarifying. I think it will be hidden inside near the hotwire in that case, won't it? Just wanting to be precise over its whereabouts for accuracy.

MAF & MAP Sensor Cleaning & IMRC Valve Cleaning

Thank you, always good to see a detailed write up. I don't think the IAT is part of the MAF, it's my understanding its a separate part... ...the component on the MAF is a diode, and as far as I know just part of the circuitry, yet I'm open to be corrected.
