    Video of whine from Gearbox/Driveshaft

Hi Brett, The driveshalf was replaced at 29,000 miles in Sep 2011, I purchased it from Croydon Honda in late Jan when it was on 31,000 miles. It's now on 32,000 miles. Woking Honda said they had not heard of a driveshalf going this early on an accord either. I'm going to try and contact the...

    Video of whine from Gearbox/Driveshaft

Well I found out a bit more today which sheds some light on the problem. The service guy at Woking Honda caled me back - after enquiring with Honda about any protential known issues nothing came back, however it was pointed out that my car had the offside driveshalf replaced 2 thousand miles...

    Video of whine from Gearbox/Driveshaft

Hi Guys, Thanks for all the advice, and Tony thanks for the offer of comparing noises. I went to my local Honda dealership yesterday as I'm in Woking not Croydon and went out with someone from service who was very helpful. He thinks it could be something in the gearbox/gear meshing but it may...

    Video of whine from Gearbox/Driveshaft

Well, I've had my Accord 2.4 Tourer 2 months and I've had it back to Croydon Honda 3 times about this noise, the 3rd time the service manager sat with me in the car whilst I was driving and pointing out the noise - he said that there was definately not a problem with the car, it was just normal...

8th gen as a family car

I think it was a bad move for Honda to change the accord from a hatch to a saloon with the 7th Gen onwards - I had a 7th Gen Saloon when my daughter was born but the boot of the saloon was just too annoying for me when getting buggies/bags/suitcases all stuffed in the boot - the size of the boot...

    Autobox

    Autobox

I used an 8th gen diesel auto for a week recently and was dissapointed with the mpg - may just have been my experience though. I'd advise you to try and get an extended 24/48 hour test drive from a dealer to see what you get with your driving style - that's if mpg is going to be one of your...

Whine increasing with speed - normal?

Hi all, I think this will apply to just the manual petrol drivers of the 8th gen - My 2.4 manual tourer has a mechanical whine that increases it's pitch as my speed increases. It's not related to rpm and starts from low speeds right up to motorway speeds. It is effected by throttle - if I back...

Rear brake issue - Honda say it's normal?

The thumps on the vid are speed bumps down a smooth road! The noise I'm on about is the loud drone. Anyway - I've had an independant dealer look at the car and they have convinced me it's nothing to do with the brakes - but is because of cheap tyres fitted to the car. The tyres are 4 x brand...

Rear brake issue - Honda say it's normal?

I've done about 300 miles since getting the car so plenty of miles to clean anything off, if anything the problem is getting worse. Pads have lots plenty left on them, it's not the steel wear pin.

Rear brake issue - Honda say it's normal?

I purchased my new 2008 tourer 3 weeks ago from Honda dealer, after picking it up I noticed a noise and kocking from the rear, my local dealership diagnosed an out of shape rear tyre, they also advised that all 4 should be replaced. I went back to the dealership I purchased it from and they...

    How Many 8th Gen Owners?

Another new 8th Gen owner here, Used to have a 7th Gen 2.4 for a few years, then went to a diesel Mondeo (175bhp) which lasted a year before I got sick of the bad build quality/unreliability/bad Ford service! I've got the 2.4 EX Tourer, thought about the 2.2iDtec but was put off by the slightly...

8th Generation Rear Break Pad Change. Help

My Accord is going back to Honda this week to have the rear brakes looked at – I purchased it from Honda 2 weeks ago but noticed a noise from the rear when driving, it sounded like gearbox whine but after jacking up the car and spinning the rear wheels found that both rear wheels were...

    MPG - 2.4 Petrol Vs 2.2iDetec Auto

I think the main issue is with the auto box sapping mpg, unless there are any auto users out there who beg to differ, I'm sure the iDtec in manual form is much better!

    MPG - 2.4 Petrol Vs 2.2iDetec Auto

Hi all, Just thought I would share my findings having driven the following two cars for a week each, I was very suprised! 2.2iDtec Auto saloon (2011, Honda loaner with 4,500 on the clock) 2.4ivtec Tourer (2008, my car with 30,000 on the clock) I've been driving the diesel for the last week...

    SaNav mute short-cut

Thanks but I was after a one button shortcut, my old Mondeo had a mute/unmute button which I could just hit whilst driving rather than going into the menu, it was touch screen though so more room for stuff like that. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something obvious!
