A broken spring perhaps ? I had something similar at the front of my old Fiat Punto, it lost just over one coil breaking off at the bottom of the spring. Can't see what else would allow it to drop short of something really wacky going on. HTH. Cheers Robin

I had a similar problem with the rear offside of my tourer which turned out to be an out of round tyre. At a shade over 70 mph (whilst overtaking of course !) it stared gradually then built up to what felt like a flat tyre. Most disconcerting ! All good once that was swapped. Thinking back...

Isn't it the suspension springs that set the ride height (***uming standard suspension setup) ? I've always understood the shock absobers to do just that - damping out movement due to road surface variations. Cheers Robin

Have you looked at the air filter ? If it's badly blocked it will strangle the engine and make it thirsty. HTH Robin Edit - just seen the 'recently serviced' bit... should read more closely. Worth checking that the air filter was swapped though unless of course you did it yourself.

Yay :) My tourer is now sorted thanks to the guys and girls at Brindley Honda West Bromwich. No smells now other than the expected "new engine" type smell from the new manifold and the engine is definitely quieter now. They also kindly fitted the new (OEM of course) fuel filter I supplied for...

Good news so far, the manifold has been confirmed as failed and the garage have filed a claim under the extended warranty and have a new one on order. Just waiting for the call to say it's in stock. Cheers Robin

My tourer is into Brindley Honda @ West Bromwhich this morning for a look-see at the exhaust manifold. I'm pretty sure that it has cracked as I'm getting the smells as described, and the threaded end of the three bolts that hold the heatshield on are well sooty. Thank you to the previous poster...
