just got new that one of the injector seals have gone. Does that sound like it could cause these symptoms: Engine rattle increase power loss diesel fumes engine note change I hope it is such a simple thing.

I thought I would mention that this issue was cleared up when the DMF and clutch were changed. It looks like the DMF was the cause all along then.

This issue has now been solved by replacing the high pressure fuel pump. all better now :)

all fixed! I changed the high pressure pump and its all better now. on to the next problem then.

So the car has been dropped off this Saturday and I have been given a Civic to drive until they call me with the news. I am very interested to hear the outcome. I'll keep you all posted.

I think its the manifold as the engine bay smells like exhaust fumes and around the front too. Could they have done anything to knock it? It was definitely not like that before :(

I will do, what could a DMF job have done to make the engine sound rough though? I could understand it if it was something happening with the gearbox or similar. This car is killing me! I am losing my patience with it now :(

I can get a fuel pump from aster for £80 so I May jut replace the thing and get HH to fit it if it's a complicated job?

Brett are you familiar with this part of the engine? Do you know if it can be removed and cleaned? or just replaced?

Mine is the same part so i think the same problem as you Jon. If it can be removed it can be replaced hopefully. I will call HH tomorrow to get some advice.

Hmmm well HH fixed the DMF and clutch. They also replaced the crank seal and the rear drop link. However, there is now a new noise coming from the timing chain area of the car. Power steering fluid was fine but its with HH today to get the flywheel, DMF, crank seal and a drop link done. So I added the steering to the list and they are looking at it. I'm feeling a bit hard done to with this car now after a timing chain job now this lot it's getting expensive lol...

the grooves on the belt look fine no sign of corrosion and the battery test gave these results: Cold Battery = 12.7v engine on = 14.2v engine on and heavy load = 14.1v This car is a pain in the ***!

I have checked the belt that you see when opening the bonnet and it seems tight. Is there another belt i need to check?
