    Fuel Pump Solenoid Removal

That's good to hear, Jon. Look at it this way - whichever you go for it's a £1900 saving on Honda's price for a complete pump.

    Fuel Pump Solenoid Removal

As you say a bit odd but clearly it's meant for a Honda as it has a Honda part number. One other rather obvious idea occurs to me belatedly - why not try your local Bosch Diesel Service Centre?

    Fuel Pump Solenoid Removal

Car manufacturers spares prices can be, shall we say, interesting. I wonder what price you'd get by phoning a Bosch Diesel Service Centre - my bet ls less than half Honda's price. It's not just Honda though, a chap I know has just had to have a damaged propshaft UJ replaced on a Nissan Navarra...

    Fuel Pump Solenoid Removal

Our posts crossed. My suggestion would be the two firms I mentioned in my earlier post. It is critical that you get the right one for the Honda i-cdti engine - although they all look the same from the outside they are different internally. The pump part number, should you need it, is...

    Fuel Pump Solenoid Removal

The pump fitted to your car is not just similar, it is a Bosch CP3 - they come in slightly differing variants for various applications. Managed to find this American article - http://www.dieselbombers.com/chevrolet-gmc-diesel-tech-articles/5453-cp3-modifications-you-can-do-yourself.html - on...

    Fuel Pump Solenoid Removal

I don't know the answer to your question, Jon, but exploded diagrams I've seen of this pump suggest it can be removed by simply taking out the screws. What I don't know is when putting it back if any adjustment is needed. A slight tangent I know but here's a link to one of the best articles...

    Diagnostic Connector

A quick question which will hopefully save me hours searching. Where is the 16 pin diagnostic connector on a 7th gen diesel?

Pleased to hear you've resolved it.

    2004 i-CTDI low MPG

I've stayed away from this thread for a while but, having come back to it, I see we're no further forward. Still, no proper diagnostics have been done - and I don't mean just a fault code read. Instead parts and a whole engine have been thrown at it but the problem persists. If proper...

    2004 i-CTDI low MPG

As Jon has said this is unlikely. Even if they were the result would be an engine producing more power than it should for a given accelerator position rather than poor fuel consumption. By the way, I've seen a couple of diesel engines that suffered bent conrods as a result of hydraulic lock...

    2004 i-CTDI low MPG

I agree. The trouble is there are so many possible causes and without the data we can only guess. Let's see the results of a compression test and have confirmation that the injector spray patterns have been properly checked. Changing things in the hope that it will cure a problem usually turns...

    2004 i-CTDI low MPG

You need to be careful disconnecting injector wiring on a running CR diesel for two reasons. Firstly, on many systems the ECU will detect the open circuit condition and shut down the engine. The other issue is that these injectors don't operate at battery voltage but typically at around 80...

    2004 i-CTDI low MPG

Although the exhaust could be emitting white smoke, i.e. unburnt diesel, I hope this would have been mentioned. Even if the smoke itself had not been noticed the appalling stench of diesel fumes is very hard to miss. The real trouble we have here is the lack of hard data. Ideally I'd like to...

    2004 i-CTDI low MPG

One other thought occurred to me re the vibration. I think the balancer shaft drive is from the chain so if the chain is stretched this could throw out the synchronisation between balancer shaft and crankshaft causing the vibration. That said I too don't believe that the vibration is the cause...

    2004 i-CTDI low MPG

Natasha, does whomever is doing the diagnostics have access to an oscilloscope? If so there's a potentially revealing test that can be done. This is to scope the crank and cam sensors simultaneously - that'll clearly show up any problems with the timing chain. If that vibration is present...

    Changing main headlight bulb (xenon)

Picture of the back of a standard (non-HID) headlamp on this thread - http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/12068-diy-7th-gen-dipped-beam-headlight-bulb-change/ If your's look this then it's easy, as Dave says. If it looks very different then the headlights are OEM HID.

    Changing main headlight bulb (xenon)

They sound very much like OEM bulbs. If so then in many cases you do have to remove screws to get the bulbs out. The packaging for the the new bulbs should say what type they are - can you tell us what it says? Given the cost of genuine HID bulbs it's not something I would try with the...

    2004 i-CTDI low MPG

A couple of further thoughts. Is the engine thermostat working OK - not stuck open? What does the ECU believe the engine temperature to be? - needs to be scanned for this one, it's no use relying on the temperature gauge. Apologies if you've already checked these.

    2004 i-CTDI low MPG

I really cannot get my head around this one and, so, am watching with interest to see the outcome. I just cannot understand how the car can run well with no apparent symptoms other than the fuel consumption. The only other thing I can suggest in addition to having the injectors checked is to...
