Type S in car dvd with flip down monitor

Nicely done. It reminds me of the system we had in an Espace when the kids were younger. It half worked - in the sense that it kept them quiet for half the journey, after which they reverted to trying to murder each other. The joys of trying to keep children occupied on long journeys. It's...

    HFT - Help Me Please

Dave, no I didn't know that. Makes the decision even easier. 50 names - what use is that? Alan

    HFT - Help Me Please

Thanks for your views, folks. Sounds like the HFT is not for me. Reasons - lack of visual display and voice commands only. As I've got about 150 people in my phone book, several with similar sounding names and about 40 with non-English names I can see myself getting in a muddle very quickly. Alan

    HFT - Help Me Please

The HFT on my newly acquired tourer is locked. I've tried the obvious codes with no success. From reading various posts my next step would therefore be to get the dealer ot unlock it. Fair enough. My dilemma is this. Some of the posts I've read suggest the HFT is not really that good anyway...

    Exhaust Manifold

I must admit I'd ***umed it was S.G. cast iron, which is weldable. How easy it is to weld depends on the thickness of the casting - the thicker it is the more specialist the job becomes. Thinnish castings can be successfully welded using MIG/TIG or arc but arc is normally used because of the...

    Exhaust Manifold

The OP's mechanic is sort of right. Welding cast iron is something for a professional welder to do. It's not too difficult but it does need special electrodes and a particular technique to make a good weld. Alan

    Spare Wheel

Well, it's all done and bolted down properly. It fits a treat - 16 inch wheel by the way. I got a suitable bolt from the local scrappy and cut a suitable sized (about 4 inch diameter) washer from a piece of 2mm steel sheet. I'll have to disagree with those who say a bolt and washer aren't going...

    Spare Wheel

Thanks for the thoughts and information, folks. Currently I have the gunk and compressor arrangement and I'm not happy with that. Looking at the spare wheel well there is no obvious way of securing a spare, so I'll investigate further. A few years ago I had to help some unfortunate souls who...

    Spare Wheel

I've read through various posts on what will fit into the spare wheel well of a tourer and it seems pretty straightforward. My question is a bit different though. Having got the spare wheel in place how do you secure it? Or is it just sitting in the wheel well? If the wheel is not secured...
