My boot wont open manually or automatically

it will be teh microswitch inside the lock mechanism. It happened to me and I stripped it down , cleaned it up, bent the contacts to make a firmer contact and re-***embled. took ~ 1 hour. To get in to it on the inside of teh tailgate about where teh number plate is there is a small panel that...

    Debagding

use a hairdryer on it first to really soften the glue, on my old A8 I did it and could pull it off with my fingers. HOWEVER!!! some colours are really sensitive to sunlight and bleach over time, on my A8(with its reknown super hard audi paint) when I took off the badges you could clearly see...

mine was the lock that was faulty rather than the raise/lower function. If its that then you need to strip it down, there are two circular switches that rotate as the motor runs, inside them one part has contacts on the other holds a metal piece which is sprung to make contact with the other...

    Driving in the snow?

rubbish, I live down a 1:4 hill, on Conti Winter Contacts I was able to drive up it completely covered in snow without the VSA even flashing, my wifes Astra on Conti Sport Contacts would get all of 3 feet on the gentlest bit of the slope. I was actually gob smacked how bad her car was compared...

    Pollen filter for winter?

why do you think so? its just a filter, I dont suffer from hay fever, I dont suddenly fall over the minute I open the door and breathe "unfiltered" air? OK its a nice to have in some circumstances and I could see that in a big city sat behind buses/wagons pumping out particulates like a mill...

    Pollen filter for winter?

mines been out > 12 months and its fine, the temp in the system doesn't change just because you take a filter out... and we managed for many many years without all these fancy bits. IMHO the sheer volume of air and increased demist ability is a no brainer at this time of year

    slow starting in cold weather.

I too heard a double glo plug cycle helps things.... Just a check, what oil have you in the engine? This is the time of year that viscocity reallly plays a part when its cold.

help! brake pedal goes to the floor

Mine does it, as did the Audi A8 before and the Volvo T5 before that... as long as its solild when engine is off and its only creeps down ( i.e. that under heavy braking you aren;t going to run out of brake pedal movement) it appears to be normal for some cars. one "trick" to try is to jam a...

Best replacement clutch for Honda Accord (2007) 2.2l Diesel Tourer ?

heheh, I've covered 25K "mostly motorway" miles since mine started slipping in 3/4th!!!! its no worse in general driving now than it was back then.... I'm hoping for another 25-30K before it finally gives up the ghost. Treat it carefully and I dont see how you can go through a clutch in 40K...

    Honda happiness clutch price increase?

*cough* now over 25K miles on mine since it started slipping on boost in 3rd and 4th and as long as I drive around that its no worse... at 800 quid a pop for the clutch alone and potential for the DMF as well I think "My Dilema" (http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/6642-my-dilema/) is...

Help! How many miles on empty (0 miles? )

    High mileage club?

Mines on 176K, runs fine, mine gets oil and filters every 10-12K, a good check over/lube every couple of weeks. Mine doesn;t burn any oil between services. I cover between 25-30K pa. If I'm honest the suspension is probably a little tired/softer than it would be, the drivers seat is worn both...

Any buying advice for quiet, durable tyres for motorway driving

Legalities of freewheeling aside, I've heard this in gear with no throttle uses no fuel argument as well but it also means you are applying engine braking thus losing momentum. try this on a ( pref deserted ) flat road, accelerate to 50, put it in fifth and take your feet off the pedals, time...

    FM2?

mini thread hijack but does anyone know how to stop the FM radio from switching frequency witin the same "station"? my local BBC radio station run multiple frequencys and occasionally run different programming on each. e.g. football commentary on one, chat/music on the other. My problem is I...

Any buying advice for quiet, durable tyres for motorway driving

The cuts you mention are called "sipes".... its these that flex open/shut as the tyre deforms at the bottom due to the weight of the car that "grab" the snow to give the extra grip. IIRC its technically illegal to freewheel like you mention :D Something about not being technically in control...

Any buying advice for quiet, durable tyres for motorway driving

measure when cold and the same as summer tyres is what I've always been told. I'll check mine when I get chance for you. Economy wise I see no real difference between my summers and winters although by definition you are likely to be running more electrical kit now than in summer ( headlights...

Any buying advice for quiet, durable tyres for motorway driving

I have the conti TS830's on mine ( fitted back on for second season last weekend mainly due to my fronts getting marginal). They are very quiet, comfy and grippy. I'm sold. Its worth a quote from KwikFit as hey have an offer on of 25% off. They had this last year when I bought mine and I paid ~...
