I took the whole lock unit out of the car, there is a white plastic cover that encloses alll the electronic bits, take this off and you will see 2 white plastic circular pieces. Its hard to describe but think of them as dishes which have electrical contacts in the bottom spaced out in a circle...

I reckon its similar to mine, the internal mechanism that tells the ecu where everything is is weak so it loses track. I dismantled mine and bent the contacts back up to make a good connection and its been fine since.

I have an alternative diy method. Pick up phone, go to national tyres website, book car in. on relevant day drive in, hand over keys go get coffee from next door, browse TA website whilst drinking hot beverage, walk back, hand over 47 quid and drive out. :) Works for me!

The hex is sold as a brake removal key in most motor factors. I paid 4 quid for mine. I must say the accord does have the easiest brakes I've done in a long while..

sounds wheel bearing to me, usual putting brakes on and it goes away is typical of a dodgy bearing as the braking loads the bearing differently.

I find that the light on mine comes on with over 10 litres left so don't think it's actually empty. I generally get 470 ish miles till the lights on so would be 550 to a tank or thereabouts
