Welcome along Rihan this sounds like your VTC solenoid blocked due to sludge and lack of oil changes.
A few oil changes might help help but you might need a manual strip down to unblock.
John it's a petrol not a diesel and mine red lines at 7k.
Also max BHP is at 7000rpm in the manual

Mine is top right as you look into the glove box but might be different on your tourer Lee.
With the switch you might have to take the door Panel off not 100%
Lee Iv heard that the passenger window switch sends commands to the boot opening and also a few other electrical items.
Have anything been spilt on the switch.
This would be my 1st place to look and clean the switch or replace.
Just keep an eye on the clip Andrew.
The CL7 might be a different set up to the CL9 then and mine.
All I no was when I had my rad changed at the dealers they didn't take out the condenser.
I'm sure it was just bolted to the same fixing housing and the rad just slid out.
But a good DIY and saved...
As Brian said on my 8th gen condenser can be changed without removing the rad so probably the same on 7th gen.
Also not trying to worry you but did you put the jubilee clip on the plastic lower rad connection.
If so with jubilee clips there is no movement for heat expansion on the rad and could...
Peter I'm sure this is a normal thing with our cars as being in high revs seem to be like this.
As I said if I hit 7k in 2nd gear 3rd gear can be harder to ingage than if in low revs.
Get a price from HH as a clutch kit for your car is under £200 not including fly wheel and not fitted.
So that is a hell of a lot for labour on a petrol car.
A full size will not fit in a saloon 8 th gen.
I have a space saver that is the next best thing and can be brought from Holdcroft Honda.
Or if you can find one on eBay as from new there about £160
