2.2 i-cdti sport
Hi all, I am new to the forum so firstly I'll start by introducing myself,

I picked up my new (2006) accord 2.2 i-cdti sport yesterday from an independent dealer and overall I am very pleased with my purchase

However, when I test drove the car I noticed the cluth was slipping in 3rd, the dealer has fitted a new clutch and dual mass flywheel and when I picked the car up the speedo has stopped working, I had to take it back and wit for an hour why they checked the obvious things and couldn't find anything obvious which brings me to my question.

He told me that the speedo is electronically controlled and due to the clutch being repalced may need calibrating so to drive it for a 3/4 days to see if it starts working and if not he will book it back in and loan me a vehicle.

I can't fault the dealer to be fair for the work he has done on the car for me, but I have never heard of such a thing before and was wondering if anyone has come across this? or was he just trying to gey me out his showrom for the day!

Thanks in advance, and love the site!

Welcome along mate but iv nether heard of that as well. When you say you had the clutch done was it by Honda.

Hello Robster
Sounds fishy to me, I would have thought it would be a sensor that picks up the speed. If they changed the clutch, they could have disturbed or forgot to connect the sensor back up. Could be wrong though.

How to Rewrite the ODO Data
NOTE:

•To rewrite the ODO data, follow the new unit installation steps after gauge control module replacement.

•If the Honda PGM Tester or HDS retrieves the ODO data from the gauge ***embly, the ODO value on the ODO/TRIP display will appear as ''———'', maiking the ODO function unusable, and the Honda PGM Tester or HDS will be unable to retrieve additional ODO values.

•Rewriting is nor possible on a gauge control module that does not communicate.

•Obtain a new gauge control module, before staring the rewriting process.

1. Before replacing the gauge control module, connect the Honda PGM Tester or HDS to the data link connector.

2. Select the ''BODY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM'' from the Honda PGM Tester or HDS menu display.

3. Select ''ODO REWRITE'' from the Honda PGM Tester or HDS menu display, and follow the instructions on the menu display to retrieve the ODO.

4. Replace the gauge control module

5. Follow the instructions on the menu display to write the new ODO value to the new gauge control module.

I doubt a independent dealer would have the HDS tablet or HIM .. 9k for tablet and 2K for a HIM uum he must be nuts to spend that sort of money.. I havent seen any Honda specialist using it either.

EDIT guys the above is the step by step procedure for dodgy scam artist to wind back the odo reading in car and no one will be none the wise.
strange it's on the disc that is coming from the old site!! I doubt Honda would show how to scam a speedo!

Hi guys thanks for all the responses,

I have not had chance to have a look for the panel that Pepster mentioned today, but as it happens the engine emisssions warning light came on today
in the multi function display, and it has stayed on so going to be taking the car back for repair anyway!

Thanks again, Rob
