accord 2006
Hello,

I just bought my first Accord, a 2006 model without navigation. I really want to install my Pioneer double DIN stereo with Apple Car Play from my old BMW into my Accord.

I have found this adapter online:
http://www.ebay.ie/itm/2DIN-Radio-Facia-Panel-Mounting-Sleeve-Metra-99-7803G-Honda-Accord-2003-2007-/232050910119?

However, some people report having issues with the AC climate control afterwards.

My car has the dual auto climate control. From what I have read, people seem to have more success installing this unit in cars with manual climate control.

My question is this:

Can I just hook my climate controls up to the manual climate control input on the back of the unit ?

Also, will I have to buy an adapter to make my stereo work with the steering wheel controls?

Thanks

Heya, did you search "Double DIN" on this forum? There are a lot of threads about fitting console stuff.

Judging by other people's results your going to be better off buying an adapter to fit the unit in the cubbyhole underneath the standard stereo/ac controls.

As mentioned above, do a search on double din installs. It has been covered numerous times.

This would be the setup that most people go for - Sits on the lower cubby hole section.

Would need to get an additional loom which connects to the existing radio loom. Although not to sure what model of loom you require as I have never looked into it.

Forget the top section conversions. They are no good.

Go for this, http://www.connects2.co.uk/Product/ProductItem/CTKpHD01

If your in UK or if in US the same thing is sold under a different brand:

It's a bit expensive but supposed to still maintain heated seat and HVAC controls.

Here's a video of the HVAC controls working in another car with same branded kit and similar layout, I'm thinking of getting this once I purchase the pioneer, I think the metra kit looks cheap in comparison.

Another cheaper option without touch screen is this:

PAC Audio Integrated Installation Kit - RPK4-HD1101 http://www.abt.com/mobile/product_details.php?product_id=107367&PAC-Audio-Integrated-Installation-Kit-2003-2007-Honda-Accord-RPK4HD1101=

Still looks more like OEM than the metra.

I think mine is a UK model, do you think the Pioneer 8201nex and the Connects2 kit will work, Connects2 is a UK company.

It doesn't matter who the company is or where they are based, if they don't offer an alternative, then the system will only work with conventional car HVAC systems. The system on the Accord diesel is unconventional in that it has a pressure sensor (measures actual pressure) rather than a pressure switch (used in conventional car HVAC), and there is also an output to a magnet valve that bypasses the condenser in cold weather (making the evaporator a heat source).

I'd love to have something like the Scosche with an android unit, but can't help but feel the finished results just looks ugly, I'm looking at the picture of it installed with a double din and it looks like a big slab of ugliness, hell of a chin on it.

Wish there was something that looks OEM with the satnav screen replaced with an android screen with upgraded amp so the Vibe 6x9s I bought ages ago from Halfrauds which I got for a steal due to a pricing error were properly utilized :( one can dream.

PAC also do a all in one fascia

About £250 imported. Not sure about compatibility with Diesel tho.

I need to look into that Connects2 one but I think it will be more expensive.

The Metra one is rubbish I've heard.

Personally I got a DD JVC DAB installed in the lower part of my console feeding the premium sound system in my Accord. Used a Honda fascia trim kit for 2DIN option, was not cheap but plastic is good finish and quality to match OE plastics. Also retained the SWC to the JVC.
