Hi Peeps,

Hope someone can help. I am looking to improve the ride in my 7th gen diesel saloon.

At the moment, I'm feeling everything, when I go over a road marking I can feel it.

Local garage said I should either buy another car or live with it - they can't find a fault.

I was thinking maybe new shocks and springs all round, I don't want the car lowered and I have Goodyears all round.

The car is 10 years old now, so I would ***ume these parts have worn.

Any pointers?

Something as simple changing the bushings can improve the ride, but when did it get so bad?? Have you fitted lower profile tyres recently or anything??

The 7th gen diesel is a great comfortable car, i do 100 miles a day and find it extremely smooth and soft over the bumps.
I have the stock 17 inch wheels and still find it very comfortable.

I cant imagine how bad yours is, perhaps the suspension currently on there is not original and has been upgraded to sports or lowered suspension?
Have you checked you tyre pressure? They could be over inflated - that will cause a noticeable harsher ride.

Getting softer compound tyres will help dramatically. What Goodyear tyres are you running? they could be sport tyres and aimed at performance rather than comfort.

I am running dunlop blue response which is a very soft tyre and absorbs the bumps quite nicely.

Hi
The car came with 17s, some after market nonsense. I went to stock 16s. No low profile tyres for me!

The tyre pressure is checked almost weekly because I do a fair number of miles every weekend.

The car does sit a little funny. The front end is a little higher, maybe an inch higher than the rear. As in the there at least an inch more of space between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch.

When you say bushings... Which ones would I be looking at? Any cheaper jobs would be good.

Thanks.
