Advice/Help needed

hi everyone, bit of advice if possible, my 2.4 cut out at the petrol station as i was pulling up to the pump,(already had half tank) it refused to start after i'd put some juice in, So i called the RAC and after looking at various things he still couldnt get it to start, he has suggested that the timing might of slipped, he did plug it in to his system and it kept coming up with a crank shaft sensor. just wondering if anyone else had come accross this problem? thanks, Dave

I dought very much if the timming has sliped as these cars has chains not belts.
Iv nether heard this on a k24 so can't really help.
The only thing I would say is get it down to the dealers.

Cheers Brett, just looked at advisory and it's the cam sensor not crank. my mechanic is having it on tues will report back

Dave put cam sencor in the googol search as iv just found a thread about this.I'm on the mobil so can't give you a link.
It appears the chain can stretch and jump a notch causing this fault.
Have a read mate as this sounds like your problem

That does sound quite serious. Get it to a garage ASAP mate and don't keep cranking it over. Take the info you find out with yourself and let the mechanic know

Had mechanic look at it today, he confirmed I need a new timing chain, it's going in next week, said it will cost between £350 to £400.

**UPDATE** had timing chain replaced, Oil and filter £470 plus VAT.
