Alarm keeps going off

Hi all,

We have a 2006 mk7 exec.

The alarm system occasionally goes off for no reason. I have not found any way to stop it apart from disconnecting the battery. A quieter alarm keeps going when I do this. Eventually it resets.

if anyone knows why that might be happening, I’d be glad to hear about it!

we also have a battery drain problem when the car is parked for a day or two. Not sure if that could be connected. The drain is on the ‘backup’ internal fuse.

if its an estate the tailgate mechanism is a common cause of this

Thanks for the reply. Our is a saloon though.

My mechanic suggested removing the light in the boot as an experiment, but that hasn’t helped. I’ve read that unlocking and relocking with the key in the door should reset the alarm, but it doesn’t.

I think I’ve fixed the battery drain issue by removing the HFL unit. I wonder if the alarm issue might have been a low battery problem?
