Hi All,

My car has developed a really annoying rattle from under the roof lining in the location circled in the picture.

If I apply light pressure to the lining the rattle stops. I suspect the most likely culprit is the cable that (I imagine) runs from the roof lights at the front console to the roof light in the centre. I want to try and get under the lining to sort the problem - due to the location the most sensible option would be to remove the from console that houses the specs holder, two reading lights and HFT mic. I have removed the two bolts in the specs holder, but I cannot work out how to remove the unit. I suspect there may be more bolts (perhaps under the lights?) or clips . I have removed the Mic and there are no bolts there. I was reluctant to try brute force in case I broke something.

If anyone has any experience of removing this, or a pic from a manual etc I'd appreciate your guidance

A search located this: http://typeaccord.co.uk/forum/topic/837-diy-overhead-ambient-lighting/page__p__8643__hl__roof+lining__fromsearch__1#entry8643
But I'm not too sure exactly how to remove the console

Thanks

You can remove it by prising out the plastic bulb covers with a small flat head screwdriver, You will find a Philips screw either side.
Then remove your sunglasses holder and remove the 2 bolts (8mm i think) either side and then it will drop down. Dead easy and a 5 minute job.

Just found this on YouTube. Forward to 35 seconds.

I have the face lift and there ars 4 bolts 2 under the lights and 2 under the plastic cover.Undo all 4 and the console will drop out.

Thanks for the input, the You Tube vid looks really useful. I'm going to try and sort this through the week when I get time

Update:

Successfully removed unit yesterday - As suspected there was a cable that was causing the noise. Stuck it in place with insulating tape and problem solved!
