Hello everyone, thanks for the warm welcome

I'm looking for info on how to disable my alarm after changing the flat one for a new one. When I put the new one in the alarm beeps the horn at me. I have to take the train home (where I don't have internet access) so I'm looking for as much info as possible so that when I get there I WILL be able to start it.

Once that's sortted out I need to change the battery (batteries?) in the fob and replace the boot lid gas struts so when I'm struggling with shopping the boots opens and iI can load up, rather than just unlocking meaning I still have to open it manualy.

I have phoned a Honda dealership but because the car's old, they arn't interested.

Hi Jen,

Just to clarify, your going to change the car battery for a new one.

It seems that the other problem you have is that the keyfob battery is flat and therefore it will need re-calibrating to communicate with the car. I suspect effectively the car is unable to get instruction to disable the alarm via the keyfob and probably won't respond to the door being locked by the key.

To try and get out of this cycle and certainly worth a shot, I suspect you are going to have to re-code the key / keyfob whilst the alarm is sounding, until the keyfob responds and enables you to comunicate with the alarm, to shut it off.

This is normal when the battery has low voltage or is dead, when you unlock the car with your fob , it sends the signal to the MICU(Multiplex Integrated Control System ) to unarm the car , but when it senses low voltage from the battery it goes into a tizz.....Due to this low battery voltage the MICU is unable to communicate with the Alarm Control Siren(ACS) to signal it to disarm as well.

Because the MICU and ACS now have different armed/unarmed status the siren will sound using its backup battery and will continue so long as the MICU and ACS remain in different armed status.

So what do you do?

You need to charge that battery up to full charge or even change it. Then lock the vehicle with the fob.
Wait, approximately 15 seconds, for communication to be established between the MICU and ACS. The indicators will flash rapidly to indicate when you see this both MICU and ACS are in sync

In order to re-code the fob the advice is in this thread drivers side window switch post # 10

This does relate to a 7th gen but I seem to recall that it was the same procedure on the 6th gen

The 6th gens don't have an automatic self-lifting boot - I think this only came in on the 7th or 8th gen estate.

I don't know if it is possible to retro-fit a 3rd party auto opener, are they even available?
 
many thanks for the replies, it was just a case of connecting the new battery and then locking the drivers door and then unlocking with the key, she went quite and then started on the button after 8mths sitting, chuffed
