Just thought I'd change the front pads as I'm going over the car bit by bit and they were looking worn, easy enough except the peddle just won't harden up as it self adjusts. I think it could only be air in the system but the levels never changed and no leaks to see...pedal firms up a bit but then sinks almost to the floor. How could that happen, any ideas?

Did you put the lid back on the fluid reservoir when you were done? you may need to bleed the brakes properly if the pedals just going to the floor. there's no need to touch the bleed valves when just doing pad changes.

After pushing the pistons in the caliper back, the fluid level would've risen in the reservoir, what's the level like now? After checking the level, start the car and just pump the pedal a few times, it should stiffen up. If it hits the floor again, you may need to bleed them as air must have gotten in somehow.
