Hi and thanks for taking the time to read this post, im new here so first post.

Ok here goes for a while i had problems shifting down gears, i.e couldnt engine break gears would only shift down after id broke and lowered revs and speed sufficiently enough for it drop down, but then out of nowhere it was able to drop down no problem i was delighted thought maybe it had sorted it self, but now when i put the foot down the revs are shooting up but the speed aint, am i right in thinking its the clutch gone? Is this a common problem?

What engine has you got? It does sound like the clutch. Diesels suffer form this due to the torque. get it done before the flywheel gets fried.

Yeh ive heard of this in diesels a friends has the 2.2 types s civic had that problem, but ive the 2.0l litre petrol engine in mine? To make it worse warrantys just up the last month.

what mileage are you on? Your only the second petrol with clutch failure I have seen on here.

CJ might have kittens

The mileage is at 56,000 just got it serviced abot 3 weeks ago aswell. Only the 2nd one youve heard of so not a common problem so ha, any ideas what id be looking at price wise if it is the clutch? Im in ireland aswell so that might have some bearing on price.

If you are on Honda Happiness it will cost you 585 of your Brittish Pounds.
I could be wring and it could just be 585 even if you don't have Honda Happiness.
Best thing to do is to call your local dealer, or the dealer you got the car from and ask them about it.

My car does the same and is booked in to have the clutch changed next week sometime.

Good luck and get it sorted sooner rather than later.

I would have thought for a petrol clutch you could go to any garage to have it done. It's not as complex in terms of the specialist tools required when compared to the diesel.

The clutch kit will be around £300, By the time you add labour you will be near £500 anyway. Just as well get Honda to do it for the warranty.

Yep go to a Honda dealer but i will say that is very low mileage for a petrol clutch to go.Maybe the previous owner drove the car hard or more likely drove the car with there foot resting on the clutch.

Ross3r , What mileage do you have ?

mine sometimes you can see the revs go up a bit like slipping clutch for a second and then it grips.
It only does it on 3rd gear, on 4th 5th and 6th noting as i tried to check if the clutch is slipping but won't slip.

My car had 72,000 on the clock when I bought it. It did it the next day I bought it. I drove it down to Malta and noticed it 2 times.
Now every now and then I does it. I have covered 8000 miles since it first done it and maybe it done 20 times in all.

Do you think I have a clutch problem as I don't think so.

Any comment

you have the diesel by the sounds of it and yes it sounds like your clutch is slipping.

acording to the fidings of other diesel owners that is the symptoms of typical clutch slip in an disel bud.

That's what I Think, when the torque kicks in it slips a bit and it doesn't do it frequently just when I am ##### off at someone.
