Hi freddofrog
Hope all is well,
I see that from lings website, have got a diesel clutch pedal to fit to petrol 2.4 looks the same except has thread nut for two switches as compared to 1 on petrol so should fit and work just fine, will update after fitting.

Just out of interest does anyone know if this is a one off failure of the pedal ?

Since the brake (and accelerator) are of the same design, if either broke when needed most this would constitute a key cause within any accident investigation.

A listed recall notification might get you one from Honda gratis.

The car had a 3 year guarantee, it's up to you to maintain it for as long has you want to own it. Brake pedals have been known to be broken in major accidents just from sheer force of occupant pressures at point of impact. Determining if it broke before an accident would see a weakening or fatigue of the metals and therefore putting the blame on the owner for poor maintenance and not the manufacturer for shoddy build.

This is why I am asking about the reason for the fracture, even though Ryan is enquiring about a clutch pedal, which (I ***ume) is the least likely to break in an accident.

Have cabin pedals ever been part of an Accord/Honda vehicle recall, or mentioned in historic statistical ****ysis either from VOSA or another country overseer ?

Some other parts that are deemed to be potentially life threatening (eg. the exhaust manifold) do appear to get an extension to the three year rule and surprisingly, this fault is not mentioned in the government recall links, regardless of the model entered, though I have put just one year into the search.

I appear to have an outstanding recall on my vehicle, not a Honda part.

There is an outstanding recall/update on your vehicle:
  • Safety recall: front pass airbag over pressurised
