Hello again everyone, as you may guess have had 11 months of trouble free motoring but that all ended this weekend! Driving back from Northampton yesterday I spotted the rev counter up to its old tricks again, not as exaggerated as before, but if i put my foot down in 4th or 5th with the car at around 2000 RPM the rev counter would shoot up around 500 rpm then settle back down by about 250 before the car started to accelerate smoothly. Based on Brett's reply below I gave Fish Brothers Honda who did the work a call as it is almost exactly 11 months since the work was done. I asked if the clutch would be covered and the response was "in an ideal world it would be but ..." the person in their service department went on to tell me they would need to road test the car and then if necessary take it apart and look for any signs of damage. If they did discover any signs of damage i.e. burning etc then the clutch would not be covered, the same applied to the DMF, on top of this if damage was found then I would be liable for the cost of the work done!

I am a little miffed at this! I don't tow with the car and I don't drive like a boy racer, slipping the clutch at every given opportunity. I would therefore expect the replacement to last a little more than the 11000 miles that it has. The fact is I am still paying off the 1500 odd pounds that they charged me last time, the idea being that I just drive this car into the ground to get my money's worth.

I am taking it over to them for a road test after work tomorrow, I am also armed with 3 videos of the rev counter behaving like this on my phone that my girlfriend took yesterday, you can bet your life it will behave perfectly tomorrow!

Could anyone let me know what the official Honda line is and what my best course of action is from here?

As always any advice will be much appreciated.

Scott you should have a 12 month warranty with the new clutch and DMF i presume. The clutch should not be slipping with only 11k so dont take any ***** from them as they should replace this free of charge.
IMO i would say it wasn't fitted correctly hence why the slip.
Ask them as well if they checked the cruse switch as this should be part of the job.

Scott,

Sorry to hear the news.

Most of what they have said is the normal protect your behind sort of stuff that they have to say, so I wouldn't read too much into it

As the others re: the cruise control switch.

If you get no joy with the dealer then ring Honda UK and explain the whole situation, just keep in mind, whilst it is frustrating, keep calm with them :)

11k is not much at all, of course it will also depend on driving style etc so be prepared for questions on what your journey to work is like etc.

Fingers crossed it gets sorted for you without too much hassle.
